Sock Club was created and inspired by both physical knitting clubs and online knitting clubs. Many of the sock patters were designed by knitters who have had many patterns published, and some are the knitters first published pattern. But all of them share this—they are creative, unique and beautiful.

The special thing about the patterns is this: in the front of the book, Schurch and Parrott give a variety of suggestions and instructions on how to adjust the size of the sock by altering the pattern slightly, or changing the needle size, or the yarn, etc. For each pattern, they give which specific ways work best for resizing for that pattern.

In the back, there are 5 different ways of casting on (sometimes you need a different cast-on for a pattern to make it work), and the instructions and pictures are pretty good. There are other little tips and tricks for technique, like knitting with a circular needles, wrap and turn, suspended bind-off, and finishing techniques. There’s also a sizing chart for men and women, information on yarn types, and a list of sources to find recommended yarn for your new socks.

There are 23 patterns, a million colors you could work with… you realize how many beautiful socks you could make with this book?

Recommendation: This book was designed for the intermediate to experienced knitter. Many of the patters work with lace, cables, bobbles etc. even one with beads, and other more complicated patterning.

Happy Knitting!

First, can we just take a minute to talk about this cover? It’s absolutely adorable! I love the birds, and the books, and the colors. That alone would pull me into the book. Second, can I just tell you that I wish we had books like this when I was a kid! Don’t get me wrong, Beverly Cleary, Ramona Quimby, The Baby Sitters Club, and a few others were awesome. But, books like TSAOF would have been happily devoured then, too!

I absolutely adored Alastair. I’m not a fan of birds, but it they were all like Alastair I would have a dozen! I loved his curmudgeon quirkiness, and his ability to pull you into the story, along with his sister Aggie. His poetry was awesome and captivating! And, Fritz. Let me tell you what. I saw a lot of my own kiddos in Fritz. He was just lovable. And, Bertie! The perfect “grandma” for the story. I loved her laugh-out-loud moments in the story.

This debut novel by the amazingly talented Cory Leonardo is one that should be on every young reader’s shelves. It’s filled with life lessons, lots of laughter, characters who will become friends, and lots of fun. If you have a younger reader, age 8 and up, I would definitely recommend you get this for them. It’s worthy of 4 stars, for sure! Great job on your debut, Leonardo!

Animal Planet Farm Animals by Animal Planet is a book that the whole family can read and enjoy. It is informative but the pictures are what really draws the child in to the book. Through reading this book the reader will learn about all sorts of farm animals from around the world.

The information is just perfect of a child to enjoy the facts without being overwhelmed. In fact, the facts draw any reader, even reluctant readers into the information. The pictures are high quality with bright and vibrant colors. Both the information and the pictures have a wonderful balance that make the book interesting and enjoyable.

The book describes many aspects of Farm Life in an enjoyable and interesting way. This isa great addition to a school library or home library for kids to learn about farm animals, life on the farm, and showing animals at the fair (the list could go on). Through reading, the reader learns about habitats, adaptation, and family life for animals.

I really like the special sections that included unique animal facts, kids-friendly infographics and the illustrated map of the earth to teach where the animals lives in the world. This book will allow for further discussion and research since it gets the student excited about animals where they want to know more.

I would love to have this book in my classroom library.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
1993 | Animation, Family, Sci-Fi
Classic
Everything about this movie i love. The amimated, the visuals, the story, the songs, the charcters and so much more. It is both a halloween and christmas movie. It is not just one, but its both. Thats what i love. So lets talk about it...

The Plot: The film follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life -- he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

Danny Elfman wrote the songs and score, and provided the singing voice of Jack.

The charcters are so memorable, you remember what their look like, what lines their say, who their are.

Even though Henry selick directed this film, it is Tim Burton's film. Everything about this movie is a Tim Burton film- the charcters, the setting, the story, the darkness and so much more. Makes this film a tim burton film. Its also called Tim Burtons: The Nightmare Before Christmas.

It is a classic animated fantasy stop motion horror film, that is loved by all. A must see film.

Lastly shout out to @LeftSideCut for getting the hints/clues for this review right.
