Husk is a game with some great potential going in. The horror game is set in 1995 and involves a man with a questionable past taking the train home to his rural hometown of Shivercliff with his wife and teenage daughter along for the trip.

When the train derails and you are unable to find your family, players make their way into the small town to find it deserted with no signs of life anywhere.

There is a toxic fog about the town and soon strange creatures appear which forces players to look for keys, weapons, and other items of use in order to survive as they attempt to unravel the mystery, find your family, and escape.

The premise is compelling enough to take a look but sadly there are many issues with the game which really hamper the experience. I can overlook the dated graphics and the jerky controls and camera transitions, but the game made me feel like I was stuck in the 90s with the numerous glitches in the game. Keys would not be visible on a counter and I at times had to search wildly waiting to get the indicator that keys had been located.

Combat was very uninteresting as I had to simply flail about with a pipe at first without any real indication my blows were landing or doing damage until an enemy fell. I had hoped locating a pistol would make things a bit easier but once again the combat mechanics proved to be lacking.

If you do not mind bugs and glitches, dated graphics, and gameplay, then you will finds yourself entertained by Husk but for me the promising setup went away after the first hour or so of play and I found myself paying more attention to the numerous issues rather than the game.

Fun Combat and Mini Games (0 more)
Game bugs and game crashes (0 more)
I like the AC series a lot and while there are some that I like better than others like Origins, I do enjoy playing each one. I was excited for Valhalla and getting to play Eivor as either female or male was really cool to me. I liked the premise of the story and the setting. I thought the differences with the skill system and armor sets was refreshing. The combat is a lot of fun and I enjoyed the various side quests and mini games. However, I do feel that the story was not as strong as Origins and Odyssey. It was a darker story sure, but given the events in the 9th century that makes sense. However, I felt it was missing a little something. While I liked Eivor there were side characters that were part of the story I came to like and care about more. The ending felt a bit unfinished and I felt a little disappointed. There's also the issue with constant bugs where quests wouldn't load properly, Eivor would get stuck on things, or weird clipping issues in the game. There are also far too many game crashes. I learned to save my game often because I never knew if there would be a game crash around the corner. It feels like perhaps they should not have released the game yet until they got these issues sorted. It's disappointing because I feel the game could have been great instead of just good, but the tech issues really hindered it. Must follow the instructions in the rulebook - including the example combat! Difficult to jump straight in without the example (0 more)
Fun and fairly quick game
I've had Dungeon Lords for a few months now. I managed to play a quick, trial game with a friend when I first got it, and it was entertaining.

It then went back in the cupboard.

At the weekend, I managed to convince my wife to give it a try - eventually, she relented. She doesnt like playing a game where at least one player doesnt KNOW the rules.

The first game, we stumbled through, easy enough, but some "creativity" with the rules (as found) meant it wasnt exactly as per the rulebook. She enjoyed it enough to ask to play it again.

Last night, we played it again. And, having muddled through the first game it was a totally different game. It was entertaining, it was creative, the rules felt like they flowed much better. With two players (and 2 "NPCs") it's a challenge but probably not infinitely replayable. Next challenge will be to use the full rules - the rules are set up as "combat examples", "basic play", then "normal play" with a bit more variation and a bit tougher.

There are lots of nice nods to other classic dungeon crawl genres and games, and the boards are clear enough for easy play.

There are LOTS of tokens and cards, so I would recommend investing in some sort of in-box storage system - I spent about £2 on the one i use, which I think is supposed to be for screws and nails!

It's a really fun game, and I am now looking at the expansion for a near-future purchase!
