Amusing historical romance
This was a fun read in lots of ways. I would say the book had a storyline of a ‘farce’ in the old meaning of the word. It very much reminded me of a black and white comedy without sound, some laurel and hardy-ness.

The characters in this historical are very much out of the box. Henry being the ultimate in immaturity but hey, he was only 18 years old. This man-boy-lad-about-town was his own worst enemy getting into constant scrapes that usually included inappropriateness and less clothes than one would expect. His forever friend Percy kind of stole the show for me, I adored him and his character, his difficulties made me feel all the feelings.

As said already, the story was farcical but in a way that didn’t irritate. I felt the need to suspend reality and that was fine by me. I enjoyed the writing, the wit and the dialogue. I’m glad I finally got around to reading this book after so many friends have enjoyed it.

When reading books, I go through phases of genres, where I might read 3 or 4 of one type before switching to another. Recently, I'd been reading a lot of historical fiction and felt it was time to switch it up, moving on to comedy instead, hoping this would prove to be a hit.

Unfortunately, it wasn't. :(

Perhaps I should have known: I had read some Robert Rankin before and had found him (generally) to be more miss than hit, with this novel only serving to reinforce that opinion. IMO, I found this rather surreal and just not that funny with it rarely raising a smile, never mind a laugh! Indeed, what humour there is I found to be rather childish, almost infantile. Doubt I'll be looking for any more in this series: the only reasons this doesn't get 1 star is because A) a book has to be really, REALLY bad for me to give it that and B) because it was free (but now I know why!) from Amazon.

Cold Pursuit (2019)
Cold Pursuit (2019)
2019 | Action, Drama, Thriller
Confused
Let's face it, any film released nowadays with Liam Neeson as the main character is likely to be very similar to everything else he's done recently and also pretty poor. And sadly Cold Pursuit is no different.

The plot isn't anything new. It's Liam Neeson getting revenge on people again. Admittedly the setting and scenery are beautiful, it's just a shame the rest of the film can't live up to it I found the entire film very confused and wasn't entirely sure if it was meant to be a thriller, an action or a black comedy - it had aspects of all three and sadly not all of them worked, especially the humour. It was all a bit weird. And I adore Tom Bateman but his American accent in this is far too odd and I cringed every time he was on screen. And then there's the wasted Laura Dern and the pointless cops.

This is vaguely entertaining, but it dips in the middle and sadly suffers from a few acting faults and confusion on what genre it seems to lie in.

Despite the controversy surrounding Roman Polanski for the past few decades, he has made some astounding movies over the past 50-something years, Rosemary's Baby, The Fearless Vampire Killers, The Pianist, and many others.

Unfortunately, this 1972 x-rated comedy doesn't come up to their standards, it's rumoured that the whole point of the film was so he could see Sydne Rome naked, which would explain the lack of effort put into this film.

The film itself has very little story, a woman (Sydne Rome) escapes from 3 rapists and comes to a luxurious Italian house full of strange sexual deviants, all of whom fit perfectly in with 1970s sex-comedies, but couldn't really do serious acting. That's basically the film.

The script itself is for the most improvised, and the humour from this is probably the best thing about this film, and does cause some funny moments.

For the most part though, the film is only good for those with a particular sense of humour, not dry, but also not crude, somewhere inbetween.

Mumble Mumble Mumble Part 2
This one, this one to me is the best one out of all three of them. It has more action, more comedy, more one-liners and more mumbling is that a good thing probley not because you cant understand one who that their saying.

The Plot: Mercenary leader Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the Expendables team reunite when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) hires them for a seemingly easy job. But things go terribly wrong, compelling the mercenaries to seek revenge for a comrade's murder. With the odds against them, Barney and his team are hell-bent on payback and cut a path of destruction through opposing forces, only to encounter an unexpected threat: six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium.

Is Bruce and Arnold in this one more yes their are and their say each other's one-liner's to each other. Its really funny.

So which 80's star is in this one? Liam Hemsworth, who? Oh the brother of Chris Hensworth.

Anways its a great time and fun to watch.

Not as Described
If you saw this trailer, and were expect8ng an numerous tale of Maggie Smith playing an obstanant and witty old lady... you are going to be disappointed.
While there is some humour in this film, mostly dark and subtle (Not that that is an issue) it is not as hysterical as the trailer makes out. This is one of those very annoying cases where the genre and themes of the film, we're lost on whoever cut the trailer.
Said trailer is jammed full of every joke in the film, leaving you to think, "oka y, this looks fun, this will cheer me up". Sadly, the overall feel of the film is more drama than comedy.
That said, it is a very good film, well worth a watch, with the usual perfect performance from Maggie, but do not expect to be cheered up by this film, as it is quite sad.
I liked the film, however I was disappointed as I wanted something light and witty, this brought me down man.

Yippee ki yay! Christmas
Die Hard- i love this movie, such a excellent classic phenomenal christmas film. With action, suspense, thrills, comedy, vents, Bruce Willis as John McClane and of course you cant forgot Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.

The Plot: New York City policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve. He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages -- but him.

This movie started the Die Hard Franchise, which I like this one, the third one and the fourth one. I have to rewatch the second one to see if i like it or not. The fifth one nope.

Anways this movie is a classic and overall a christmas classic movie for the whole family to watch.

One more thing- Yippee Ki Kay!!!

The Terror Train
This movie is actually good, its scary, horrorfying, terrorfying, has comedy, is thrilling, and of course Jamie Lee Curtis is in it, the scream queen of all scream queens.

The Plot: During a hazing, a fraternity of pre-med students has a particularly sinister prank in store for one their more timid pledges (Derek MacKinnon). With the help of a coed, Alana Maxwell (Jamie Lee Curtis), they pull off the prank so well that the pledge needs to be institutionalized as a result. After several years pass and people forget the incident, those involved with the prank are ready to celebrate their graduation by having a costume party on a train, but they haven't escaped their past yet.

It also takes place on New Years Eve, so its a horror movie that takes place on holiday. A horror movie that is surrounding around a holiday. Its also director by Roger Spottiswoode. He directed "Under Fire", "The Best of Times", "Turner & Hooch", "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot", "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The 6th Day".

A good horror movie to watch.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
1989 | Comedy, Drama, Romance
I thought this movie was cute. I definitely understand why it's a classic romantic comedy and why it's one that has transcended decades to make some of the all-time best rom-com movies lists out there. I like the progression of the plot, it feels the most real of rom-coms I've seen over the years. The timeline is something like 12 and a half years of friendship and ups and downs and realizing whether or not you've met the person you want to be with for the rest of your life.

My favorite part is when Sally is crying and she says, "I'm gonna be 40!" and Harry says, "When?" Sally replies, "Someday!" Harry says, "In 8 years!" and finally Sally says, "It's out there!" I don't know why that cracked me up so much but it did and I loved it. I'm sure I'll end up watching this film at some point. Maybe it'll make my list of movies to show my kids one day. It's not my favorite but it's definitely a good watch.

Finding Nemo (2003)
Finding Nemo (2003)
2003 | Animation, Comedy, Family
There's honestly nothing to not like about Finding Nemo - it's Pixar during its finest hour, and just shy of 20 years old, it's still looks great and is just as entertaining as it was back in 2003.

The ocean is the perfect setting for a kids film. It such a huge, largely unexplored place, full of mystery and wonder. Finding Nemo takes advantage of the vast display of aquatic colours and gives us a film that looks distinctive and vibrant.
The plot is definitely taken out of the Pixar guide book - not a bad thing of course. The opening minutes are suitably tragic, and serves as a reminder that Pixar can deliver a gut lunch when they want to, and this was still a few years before Up ripped out my heart.
The adventure that follows includes fun and action packed set pieces, plenty of comedy, and an array of memorable characters, backed up by a faultless voice cast.

Finding Nemo almost immediately earned its place amongst Disney-Pixar royalty, and it still clearly belongs there to this day.
