Mad characters
Unbelievable situations
Such an easy read, and one that had me giggling throughout.
We follow a group of writers through emails, both to the group and some privately between members. This eclectic group would in both way be friends outside of the group, and it shows with just how different they all are. A couple do meet up outside of the group, with hilarious results (the night in the hotel before comic con being the one that sticks in my mind the most!) that mean you can’t help but wonder just how these people get through day to day life.
It was great to follow this group through the trials of trying to write their own work, as well as the trials of being thrust together with people they didn’t particularly like, and to also see that they either didn’t understand or didn’t want to see some of the sarcastic comments that were pointed towards them.
Reading this book was so easy, and such a different type of book with it all being written in email form. Although it sounds like it won’t work, in this case it absolutely does. I loved every minute of this, and could have read so many more pages of it!
Thank you to Dan Brotzel, Martin Jenkins, Alex Woolf and Pigeonhole for allowing me to read this beautifully written and extremely mad book, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I have been re-reading these HAWKEYE TPBs before bed, as a) they're a heckuva lot of fun, b) I've read them before, and c) I won't need to re-read them the next morning because I forgot what I read before I fell asleep. Peachy keen!
Outside of my wife, no one is really that close to me, 'cept maybe our dogs, Fez and Gracie, but neither of them reads. If you were to know me, you'd know that Matt Fraction's run on HAWKEYE is one of my favorite comic reads ever!
This volume brings the focus on Katie-Kate and Lucky ("Pizza Dog"), as she gives it a go as a private investigator in L.A., or, as the late comedian Bill Hicks called it, "Hell A". There is a more than fair amount of humor, and as it winds down to the final issue in this volume, a bit of seriousness, as Kate learns a deep, dark secret about her father.
As much as love Fraction's witty dialogue and pacing, I have an equally hearty amount of fondness for Annie Wu's art. Seriously, there have been some great artists for Kate, but, in my eyes, none captured her as well as Ms. Wu.
You want a fun read for your summer? This one would be perfect! And I can even recommend it to those not as acquainted with comics as some of us! #goodtimes!

I went on a little comic spree yesterday and this is my favourite of the three I read. It was my first introduction to the Supergirl series, and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more!
Kara Zor-El, the cousin to Superman, is sent to Earth while her home city is dying. She;s given a secret identity, a human life to lead under the name of Kara Danvers. Her human parents try to help her settle in and live like a normal human, going to school with other teens and even learning to drive a car. But then her father - who she thought was dead - returns, with some strange new (and very modern) changes.
I love Kara as a character. She's a sassy teen, but she also has so much more going on. She's from a whole different planet, she lost her parents (twice, now) and has to make decisions that no teenager could ever dream of.
And the art style in this is a bit different to other comics - more sketchy, kind of sharper. I liked it.
The overall plot was really good - Kara's dad, Zor-El, is trying to rebuild Argon for her. But his visions are twisted, and he's causing harm to Kara's new family while trying to bring back her old one.
This was easily one of my favourite comics I've read. 5 stars. It was so interesting and exciting and I just love Kara's character so much.

Before I start, just wanna point out that because of this show, to me every bad thing is now diabolical and said like karl urban...
Season 1 has come and gone and what a season it was, Karl Urban plays a badass anti hero-loving crusader of sorts whose probably in need of some anger management who reunites with his old team who seemingly left their friendship a little salty to say the least.
After managing to capture a "Hero" and a member of the 7 (team of hero's), butcher (urban) is after answers as to what happened to his missing wife 8 year's ago after she was sexually assaulted by another hero and the leader of the 7!
Things take a humorous, dark and violent twist with every move.
In a world where Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it's the powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets.
