Ma (2019)
Ma (2019)
2019 | Horror, Thriller
Ma is an absolutely wild ride of a film; it orbits you on social media for a couple of months before ghosting you and then coming back out of nowhere with some seriously WTF moments. It had me screaming with laughter and then screaming in terror, something that I find to be one of the most effective storytelling methods within the horror genre.

Good but a little OTT
I really enjoyed the writing of this book. I felt the character development was good and the ideas behind some of the plot were interesting with some very unique twists. The ending just seemed to get more and more far-fetched with new crazy doomed day plans coming out of nowhere. I would recommend.

"I would say that’s the first quintessential coming-of-age movie. It felt so real, and it just captured the freedom, danger, fear, hope, and everything that comes with being a kid. It’s one of the best movies ever made. It was such a shock to the world when it came out, too, and it was, like, “Oh, wow. You can make movies like this?” It stands up, too."

"Also, Sanjuro. This edition has subtle and understated packaging that echoes the sparse and slow pacing of Kurosawa’s film. The tribal “voodoo music” is entrancing and fills up the empty spaces Kurosawa leaves deliberately open. There are so many unforgettable images that stay with you, such as the dog with the severed hand in its mouth, and Unosuke’s arm coming out of his kimono’s neck hole holding a gun."

How lucky am I that I got to read and review my favorite author’s newest novel before its publication date? Yes, Michael Ondaatje has a new book coming out shortly, and if you want to know what I thought of it (as if you can’t guess already), I invite you to read my review of this book on my blog, here.

Exceeded Expectations
Actually laughed out loud at bits, interesting all the way through and it doesn't take forever for something to happen.
Feel the cast were absolutely perfect, especially Jack Whitehall.
Wasn't a huge fan of the romantic element, felt forced really.
Definitely worth a watch.

The first rule of fight club
A movie with tons of twists and turns as we Ed Norton and Brad Pitt duke it out on several occasions. A story of an insurance adjuster who needs emotional contact with people around him finds refuge with a soap sales man who encourages him to fight out his troubles and rage against the world around him. The first time I saw this I didn't not see the ending coming but, once you have watched it all the way through you pick up on certain clues which don't spoil the movie but make even better.

I enjoyed coming back to that characters after such a long break. It's like meeting up with old friends after months of dealing with life, family, and work. Unfortunately, as much as I adored Garret and Maybe's story, I wasn't as enamored as I was with Jake and Conor's. The mystery behind their secrets honestly held no interest for me and I felt like the two of them fell a little too fast, if not too hard. I will, however, read the final book to lean about Lorne and how things turn out for him now that he's out of prison.
