The inspiration for the Ron-Perlman led movie(s) of the same name, Hellboy - like the lead character - is sort of a strange mix: in this case, of the occult with the medium of the graphic novel with a very Cthulu-like monster at the end of the tale.

I also have to say that this is proof that Marvel and DC aren't the only two publishers in the world able to produce compelling and enjoyable reads!

Ooooooh!! What an ending!

Sarren, I hope they kick your arse all the way to hell and back when they finally catch up with you!

As for the everyone else. Allie, nice to have you back. Jackal, I would never have guessed. Kanin, good to see you, too. Zeke, you poor, poor, human. And Stick, you were just an arse!

It was certainly an adventure. A compelling one at that! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Great gritty Drama
A really good powerful drama set at a care home in Liverpool just as the Covid pandemic starts.
The 2 great actors both from Liverpool are great in this. Jodi is showing recently she is a lot more than Villanelle of Killing Eve. Stephen Graham is great in what ever he does. Along with a good support cast with some well known faces. It's gritty, raw and very compelling.

Meg and her friend Elle are cleaning out a cottage when they stumble upon a skeleton sealed in a forgotten room. While the identity of the skeleton isn’t really a mystery, it does give rise to a lot of questions. Who sealed the man in the room? Where is the woman he supposed ran off with? Or is she the killer? Where is the painting the pair supposedly stole?

As you can see, there is plenty of compelling stuff here for a good mystery. Sadly, the book is slowed way down by Meg living her life, including things she finds for her decorating business. Ironically, I found two sub-plots that doesn’t tie into the mystery to be more compelling than the mystery for much of the book. We do get some great twists before the end, and the characters are great. Sadly, it isn’t enough to raise the book above average.
