Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons - The Movie (2020)
Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons - The Movie (2020)
2020 | Action, Adventure, Animation
Not all of these DC animated movies are going to be as good as The Dark Knight Returns and Knights & Dragons is solid proof of that.
Its a straight down the middle entry for DC, it's got some enjoyable action sequences and the animation looks decent enough, although recently, a lot of these movies are starting to look the same. It doesn't have a unique feel to it in that regard.

Deathstroke has always been a compelling anti-hero, but compelling enough to carry a full length feature? I'm not so sure, and I still remain unsure. There's a fair amount of depth on show here concerning his family life, but honestly, the plot is a bit of a snore fest at times, although I did like to see some more minor characters such as Lady Shiva and Bronze Tiger get some screentime.

Its not the worst DC animated film out there, and is still worth a watch for fans of the brand, but it's not essential viewing.

This is a compelling story of miners who were trapped underground. In [Last Man Out] [Melissa Fay Greene] does an excellent job of capturing the emotions of those trapped as well as the families above ground. She also connects the political and economic climate of the time by telling the story of how these Canadian miners ended up connected to Georgia's fight for tourist dollars and caught experiencing segregation first hand. This is an emotional and well told story on many levels.

Say what you want but a girl needs her share of brooding vampires and this shows provides just that. I knew the book but I wasn’t very keen to continue the series as I didn’t like reading from her POV, but I always loved the mythology the author built and a TV series is perfect for me.
The locations are amazing (even though I’ve never seen Venice so empty xD) and the story is compelling. Can’t wait for the second season!

Came across this on Netflix and thoroughly enjoying it, completely different to what I normally watch. Am about half way through series one and is compelling. It is a political drama based in Australia with twists and turns, the only problem is that I keep expecting the unusual to happen as Anna Torv plays the main role of a journalist but those into sci-fi may remember her from the series Fringe and to be honest I haven’t seen her in anything else.

Jane Harper’s follow up to her wildly successful debut, The Dry, leaves a bit to be desired. The format is similar, flip flopping back and forth in time so the reader can find out what actually happened. However, Force of Nature never quite seems to get going. It’s slow in the buildup which doesn’t offer the satisfaction expected. The characters are not very compelling and nothing drives the reader to invest in any of them. Hopefully, the third time will be a charm.

Monochromatic vampire love story similar at times to Let the right one in, however this is a little more quirky and has some beautiful cinematography.
The cast isn't a long line of the well known and its filmed in Iran in limited locations, but this doesn't detract from its compelling story and amazing turns from the two main cast members.
Vampires need love too I guess and I would highly recommend this story be seen, its touching and surprisingly well told, highly recommended!

2020 | Crime, Documentary
Crime documentaries are, by far, my favorite programs to watch. Last week Hulu released FX on Hulu, and this was the first non-fiction show from FX.
It's a nice, tight, four episode series about a guy who tracked down his birth mother, and subsequently his father, who he believes is the Zodiac Killer. It was completely engaging, and the evidence was compelling.

To avoid spoilers, I have to stop there. It's well worth the watch and I highly recommend it.
