Tracking an Ice-Cold Killer
Leilani Santiago has returned from Seattle to the island of Kauai to help run her family’s shave ice shack. Unfortunately, that means dealing with family dynamics, including her estranged father. He’s returned now with Luke, his newest surfing protégé, for a local competition. The morning of the competition, Leilani finds Luke dead on the floor of the shave ice shack. With her father as the prime suspect, Leilani begins to investigate. Can she find the truth?

This book is written in first person present tense, which took a couple of chapters to get used to, but once I did, I had no trouble getting lost in the story. The mystery with strong with plenty of suspects, yet things make sense when Leilani finds the truth. Like other books Naomi Hirahara has written, family dynamics are also a strong storyline, and they weave in and out without taking over from the mystery. This helps us get to know the characters, and I grew to love them as I read. I did struggle with the Pigeon English the characters speak; at times it really slowed me down as I worked to translate what they were saying. But that was my only complaint. The book left me feeling like I’d visited Kauai but craving shave ice.

Bar Contests, Treasure Hunts, and Murder
Chloe Jackson has been drafted to represent the Sea Glass Saloon in the Barback Games. This annual tradition, a multi stage competition that includes physical and bar related contests, sounds fun until she meets some of her competition – ringers brought in to represent other bars. Meanwhile, her friend Ann asks Chloe to go with her as Ann tries to find a pirate ship sunk long ago. The first morning out ends abruptly when Ann finds a dead body – one of the Barback Games ringers. What is going on?

Sherry Harris is one of my favorite mystery writers, and this book is a perfect example why. With all of the storylines, this book has more than enough to keep us engaged. Yet, it doesn’t unfold in a traditional cozy way, which is a wonderful thing. Chloe pieces everything together for a great climax. It was nice getting to know Ann better, and Chloe is continuing to grow as well. The rest of the returning characters are charming, and the new characters fit in perfectly. I’m not a drinker, so I might have passed up this series if anyone else were writing it. But I’m so glad I started reading it. Whether this is your first visit with Chloe or you already love her, you’ll enjoy this book.

A great game in so many ways
I've been playing Age of Sigmar since its release and it is a great table top wargame. Combines that fantasy feel with classic Warhammer grim darkness. Whether it's modelling, painting or playing this game has something for everyone. It's also a great way to get out and meet people at clubs and events linked to the hobby. One day you could even find yourself on the competitive scene either playing in Grand Tournaments at Warhammer World or entering the Golden Daemon painting competition.

Great for all ages and abilities.
Would recommend.

A reality competition has come to Sea Haven, and Ceepak and Danny have gotten caught up in the action when the sudden star of the show is caught with steroids. But when the bodies turn up, they have to dig deep to find the killer. As always, I loved spending time in this resort town and with the cops, who continue to develop as a characters. The book is filled with foul language, which reminds me why I don't watch the shows that were being spoofed here.

One of my favorite shows!
I love cooking competition shows and one of my favorites is Food Network Star. Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis guide contestants interested in their own show on Food Network through a series of grueling cooking challenges designed to test their cooking chops, food knowledge and on-screen personality.

The challenges separate the good from the not so good until the top 3 get to make actual pilot shows for the network. The winning contestant then receives their own show, becomes a member of the Food Network family and frequently appears as a judge on other shows.

I was very lucky and won this dvd in a competition (: so here is my review.

I enjoyed this film, especially trying to work out who Simon’s email friend Blue is. I found the characters quite relatable, particularly when Simon acted like any normal teenager and became far too wrapped up in his own life to be a good friend.

I love that this film deals with being gay and how it is perceived and has a gay lead instead of some side character to try and be PC.

I enjoyed the storyline and development throughout the film, especially the ending, who doesn’t love it when everyone is happy.
