Lee KM Pallatina (951 KP) rated Die Hard (1988) in Movies

Laughed at when hearing their choice of actor, it was the 80's and when you heard action movie you'd immediately think "Schwarzenegger or stallone, maybe even Kurt Russel" Hollywood wanted obe of the bigger stars and reached out to them, but they all turned it down so average Joe became their Vacationing NYPD hero, so they stuck with the man known as Bruce Willis!
Whilst Visiting his estranged wife at the (fictional) Nakatomi plaza (Fox plaza) the building and it's workforce are quickly taken hostage.
Enter John McClain (willis) a rough looking, smooth talking (the guy literally has a smooth/relaxed voice) witty, sarcastic NYPD cop who just can't seem to catch a break.
Armed with everything I wrote above, aswell as bare feet, air-vents, and a fire hose, McClain pursues the terrorists in an action packed attempt at proving his wife wrong and maybe saving a few people in the process.
Die Hard is a classic 80's action epic that spawned many terrible sequels (excluding 'with a vengeance') that we still paid to watch aswell as countless knockoffs.
Did you know?
. The team behind die hard was laughed at because of their lead choice (you should do I just told you)
. The movie was almost shut down because they used a real life helicopter around the building whilst local residents tried to sleep causing an outrage and filed complaints.
. miniature explosions were set of atop the building for affect.
. Alan Rickman was lied to about when he'd be dropped from the "building" the capture a natural look of fear (about a 30ft drop).
. It was Alan Rickmans first movie ( what a way to hit the ground and keep running)
. A replica model of the building was built to film the remaining explosions on the building.
. The original Vest (tank top) is on display in the Smithsonian.
.the movie was filmed during official construction of the fox plaza aka nakatomi plaza.

Lionel is an alpha lion shifter with a (reasonable!) fear of the dark and things that slither and crawl, scamper and root. So going on a ghost hunting tour isn't really his thing, but he goes anyway, because he doesn't want to let down his friends. Brad is an omega teacup poodle shifter who has fought his way in a construction world. When he smells something, or rather, someone delicious, but with an undertone of fear, he wants to help. He is too late, but that doesn't stop him from trying. He will do what he can to help the one he thinks might be his mate.
Man, this was so good! I loved how Brad was all tongue-tied when they first met, even shifting when his poodle took over. I loved how Lionel was a-okay with having a mate who wasn't a lioness. I loved how Brad's family and friends, and Lionel's friends, all rallied round to celebrate their mating. And the thing I loved most of all? Was that Lionel and Brad tossed the standard alpha/omega dynamic on its head and OWNED it! They did what worked for them and stuff everyone else.
There is some angst in here from Lionel's old pack, but he was standing up to them when his mum arrived like an avenging angel! I'll be honest, I had my doubts about her when I was reading, but she more than made up for it at the end. Now, I'm hoping we get her story and she finally finds her own fated mate.
A brilliant combination of steamy, funny, and emotional, this was a fantastic read that I highly recommend.

David is 15 years older than Austin and, some of the time, this is really obvious. Other times, not so much. I found it hard at times to stick with Austin's character just because he did act so immature but then you have to remember the abuse that he lived with plus his age and it does become more understandable. David certainly deserves a medal for putting up with it though - although he does also have his own temper tantrums in the book. You don't actually learn that much more about David's past than what you read in the synopsis which I found a bit of a shame.
The supporting characters are brilliantly written and do just that... support the main leads. Chad is brilliant because he has concerns about David and Austin and isn't afraid to say so. However, he also is prepared to say that he was wrong and even to tell David when he's behaving like an idiot. Becky and Bree help the female side of the story and both are warm and caring towards Austin which helps him. Casey - I'd like to see a follow-up on him even though he's not the most likeable character in the book I just know there's more to him. I don't know if I want him to have a HEA with Bree though, I sort of feel he's put her through the mill enough!
Highly recommended for all fans of the M/M genre.
