Chicken Run (2000)
Chicken Run (2000)
2000 | Action, Animation, Comedy
Aardman Animation's first feature-length production, starring a then-popular Mel Gibson (before he went off the rails quite a bit!) as the voice of an American Rooster who crash-lands in a chicken coop where the inmates are all trying to escape as they all have to lay a certain number of eggs each day or else face the chop.

And yes, it is indeed a - loose - parody of The Great Escape.

"I came from a small town, with parents whose only wish for my future was a factory job, so this film, and the novel it was based on, felt close to home. My only desire was to somehow escape my surroundings, so when I first watched this movie in my early teens, I found the ending truly agonizing. Beautifully shot in black and white by Denys Coop, who also shot This Sporting Life for Lindsay Anderson that same year."

Cool survival game to play with a friend
I play this with my son. We have several worlds we play. It can be difficult especially when you lose all your stuff and playing legitimately can take forever. There is a cheat option though and for my son it makes the game easier when you just want to go around killing zombies and collecting stuff. The game sometimes freezes or stops working but not enough to cause major problems in playability

Excellent team coop game
This game is a firm favourite when we do board-game days.

You play either heros or zombies. There are various different missions and games are usually close, going down to the wire and adding to the thrill of it. Worth every penny and I shall be getting the expansions for it.

Did I mention it's well thought out? It's so good - you can tell someone has put a lot of effort into getting the balance just so.

far darker than the others, but equally brilliant!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book direct from the author, and I thank Ms Dyer for that!

This is book three in the Somerton Security series and I would strongly recommend that you read books one, Defenseless and book two, Relentless before you read this one. There is some of an on-going story arc, and I don't think you'll get the full benefit of THIS book, if you don't. And,I mean, both are five star reads too!

We haven't met Will or Cooper before, but we know of Will. He is Georgia's brother and we thought him long dead. Cooper is a sniper, and they have talked before, Will and Coop, long intimate conversations, but never got round to meeting. When Coop's life is threatened by her actions on orders, she needs Will to find the answers and clear her name. She just needs to free Will from his captivity.

I loved this one, too!

It's far darker than the other two, because some of Will's torture is described, in detail, as it happens and as memories surfacing, but it's needed. You NEED to know what happened to Will, while he was held all that time, because it has some baring on what happens later in the book. Quite graphic, but absolutely necessary.

Will and Coop's history is all phone calls and texts, but I loved that the full picture isn't immediately clear. You're left guessing at the clues and I love being kept on my toes.

I loved that Coop could SEE Will, you know, under all that dirt and grime and all those scars. She could see the man he was, will be again, even if Will couldn't. Loved that Will knew he had to let Coop go, if he was going to keep her and LOVED how he pulled her back!! I was like, way to go man!!

Parker and Georgia, and Ethan and Natalia all pop up, if only towards the end but it was nice that they did.

There is a character here who has piqued my interest, particularly after what he says to Coop and Will when the sh*t hits the fan, and more importantly, it was the WAY he said it. Makes me think that HIS story could be next, and he isn't quite the bad guy he portrays here. Maybe he is, but I think there is a teeny tiny soft spot in his heart for a certain doctor who is missing.

Please keep these coming!!

5 stars

Sixteen (The Dreamwalker Diaries #2)

Sixteen continues approximately six months after Fifteen finished. Ashling is on community service for trying to buy sleeping pills, Tate and Nadette are still missing, and Ashling is still without her mum. She decides that if she can just find Dr Dietz, she will find a way to dreamwalk again, so that she can save her mum from dying. She finds Dr Dietz, plus a whole more than she ever imagined. She does manage to dreamwalk again, but to a different time and place than she wanted. Walker Smith is still a horrible character, he still treats Skylar as not being worthy of him (for reasons she still doesn't know about).

Numerous twists and turns keep this story interesting. With new characters, old favourites, and old ones who become new, there is something here for everyone. I love that we meet Coop in this one and, although I understand the reasoning behind it, I'm not too happy with the hinting of a love triangle between Coop, Caleb, and Ash. That's just me, I don't like triangles, never have, and probably never will. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things will work out, and now I just have to wait as patiently as possible for the next book to come out.

Extremely well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, Sixteen continues to impress with the fresh ideas and circumstances detailed within its pages. Definitely recommended by me.

Prue and Ophelia take on jobs as maids to the Coops, Americans who are traveling to their castle in Germany’s black forest. Almost as soon as they’ve arrived, a cottage is discovered on the property that looks like a dwarf cottage, and fairytale experts are brought in. The next day, Mr. Coop is poisoned with an apple. What have Prue and Ophelia gotten themselves into?

I love fairytales and fairytale reimaginings, so I had to give this cozy mystery series a try. It was so much fun. The story was fast paced, and the fairytale aspect provided a nice twist to the cozy formula. The characters were sharp as well, and the author made perfect use of a multiple viewpoint story. Can’t wait for the sequel.

Excellent Coop Game
Zombicide is an excellent series of zombie survival games. Black Plague is a much better theme than the original, and in many ways feels like a replacement. The game does take a while to teach, and it is easy to miss a few rules. However, the rule book does do a great job of explaining the rules.

I will say that there are not enough items in the base game. The starting items that you get are hardly worse than the good items. And there are only two "legendary" weapons, which only fit two specific classes. I'm sure the expansions fix this, but the expansions are expensive.

Overall, the game definitely provided us with plenty of cooperative entertainment. Just know that each game typically takes us twice as log as the scenarios suggest.

BLUE SKIES is the last book in the multi-author series, Collier's Creek.

Kit and Felix are both new in town, although Felix is just returning to his roots. Both of them have baggage, although Kit's is more tragic than Felix's. Kit has writer's block and hopes new scenery will clear it. Felix needs to regroup and figure out what he wants to do with his life. When these two meet, it is definitely a case of opposites attract, although that does change.

As with all of the books in this series, it is low angst. I enjoyed their story, although I didn't quite 'feel' it as much as some of the others. I did enjoy the cameos from Logan though, and hearing the update of how he and Coop are getting on. They still remain my favourite pairing of Collier's Creek.

This was a sweet and sometimes spicy read, that felt like coming home. I have enjoyed this addition to the series and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Huge hordes of zombies, Satisfying laying into them (3 more)
Fun coop with friends
Upgradable classes and weapons
Loads of characters to choose from
Zombie bodies disappear after killing them (1 more)
Not much of a story
A fun entertaining coop game with a ton of satisfaction
I have been loving this game and satisfying is the first word that comes to mind. You have hundreds or thousands of zombies coming at you and your laying into them with many different types of weapons. Seeing them all fall and the horde being destroyed is the most satisfying feeling ever. Sadly bodies do disappear quickly to make room for the rest of the horde and that is a limitation of the engine or the system or both.

There are only 4 episodes each with 3 chapters, The 4th (Tokyo) did have 2 but a 3rd was added through free dlc but more on that in a moment. Each episode has 4 characters to choose from so 16 overall which i found impressive. They do all have backstories but you only unlock their video once you have played with that character.

There are also a huge amount of guns and they can all be upgrades with currency you earn from completing levels. The harder the difficult, the more you get. There are typically 5 tiers for each gun and you can upgrade once you get to each level through earning xp. This is done just from using them. I quite liked this system. Your aiming for something. There are also quite a few classes that you can choose from which can also be upgraded but for now ive mainly stuck with gunslinger but know there are classes like medic.

All of the missions can be played alone or with friends. They have an offline mode where its yourself with bots or online where you can team up with friends. This is so much fun. But not only this, they also have a multiplayer mode which is PvPvZ where you have to fight other people as well as zombies but being honest ive not spent too much time in this just yet.

As ive mentioned we already got some free dlc with more to come. We also got private lobbies which is a welcome addition since online would always throw you in with randoms if you didnt have a full team of friends. Some randoms could be a bit selfish with stuff they find. The new chapter was great but should have already been there sinces its a 3rd chapter and the other episodes already had 3. A new zombie type was also introduced which is fun if it will be something they will keep doing. It keeps you on your toes often.

Im excited to keep playing and will be even better with future updates when they add a 6th difficulty option after the insane mode and a survival wave based mode. Hopefully we get more episodes too.
