Whatchareadin (174 KP) rated You'd Be Mine in Books
Jun 21, 2019
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.
You'd Be Mine is a cute love story about two very young country singers. Annie is the daughter of a famous country couple who died. She doesn't want to be compared to her mother at all, which is why she has chosen to stay out of the spotlight for so long. Clay has his own demons in his closet and is a bad boy in the business. The fans swoon over his songs and his gorgeousness, but they don't know the person behind the music. Annie sees Clay and that scares him.
This is the first book I've read by Erin Hahn, and I look forward to reading more of her books. This one was cute. Since most of the characters in this book were under 21, I don't know if I would categorize this as a YA book. The underlying subject matter deals with drug overdose, suicide, and death through war.

Kim Pook (101 KP) rated Dolly Parton: Here I am (2019) in Movies
Sep 20, 2020
From the moment she is on screen she comes across as very likeable and down to earth, she even makes fun of her plastic surgery which sadly has ruined her looks, but we all know it's what's inside that counts.
She's definitely passionate about her work and very political, she also seems to be a very private person. The documentary has interviews with a few big names including Kylie minogue and Jane fonda but nobody had any dirt or juicy gossip, in fact this is the only documentary I've watched so far where's there's been nothing negative about the celeb. It does leave you wanting to know more.
Bong Mines Entertainment (15 KP) rated Sissala Goddess by Wiyaala in Music
Jun 18, 2019
Wiyaala’s name means ‘the doer’ in her Sissala dialect.
Thanks to a musical mother, The Young Lioness of Africa dodged FGM and child marriage. Also, the patriarchal society which she grew up in made it very difficult for her to become an entertainer.
Since then, she has won over fans across the world. Also, the most remarkable thing is she’s from Ghana, a country with a notoriously conservative music industry, where any challenge to the norm is frowned upon.
Wiyaala’s “Village Sex” single contains a relatable storyline and ear-welcoming vocal. Also, the song possesses energetic instrumentation flavored with West African folk, Afro-pop, and world elements.
‘Sissala Goddess’ is a fascinating, often moving glimpse at Africa old and new through the Young Lioness of Africa’s eyes.
Wiyaala sings part of the album in Sissala—one of the world’s most endangered languages.
Also, she celebrates the love of those who have supported her as well as challenging traits of bigotry, jealousy, and greed.
