Unnerving
Based on a true story, a couple are staying in the family vacation home, of the man, when three masked strangers begin to harass them late at night. This movie makes you feel uneasy in your own home as you watch the strangers harass the couple and invade the vacation home.

How easily would they get into your home? What would you do? What weapons would you have and how easily could you get to them? Would you be able to call for help? Where would you hide? Surely this would never happen to you... Right?

Compelling heroin drama
According to IMDb, Al Pacino's performance in this film (his first leading role) was what Coppola used to show Paramount executives that he portray Michael Corleone in The Godfather.

Pacino and Kitty Wynn (Sharon in The Exorcist) play a lovestruck couple who are not very good for each other. Their drug addictions and other bad habits play off each other and keep the couple on a downward spiral burrowing into the drudges of society.

The performances are what make the film worth watching. Certainly makes you not want to do drugs. Some of the sequences reminded me a lot of Requiem For a Dream (my fave film of all time).

Well worth a watch.

Hemlock Grove is about a family of Upirs (vampires), a werewolves and witches, all trying to keep their identities hidden from the rest of the town. Each season has a different ‘story’: mainly murders.
I watched Hemlock Grove not really knowing what is was about, therefore, it didn’t have my full attention to begin with. However, after the first couple of episodes, I was completely hooked and loved it so much.
My only problem is that they kill off all the best characters; a couple of my favourites were killed off.
Overall, I 100% recommend this show to anyone with access to it.*

*It can be found on Netflix (UK, don’t know about other countries).

I do love Ethan and Merit and pretty much most of the main characters in this series. I just struggle to get into the books initially. This took me at least 150+ pages before I got to a point where I'd been pulled in completely and didn't want to put it down.

I wasn't so keen on the thing that came between the couple in this. I get Ethan's wanting to protect those he loves but Merit loves you more than pretty much anything, so she can deal with your past. But they worked through their crap and became a stronger couple in the end with a very interesting future in the works.

I'm going to read the remaining books in the series when I get them.

Huh

3.25 stars.

So I'll start by saying me and long books don't get on very well. In this, I'd sort of lost interest by the 60% mark. They were together and happy, couldn't that be enough? But nope, we needed some horrible people to create some more drama and to split our very cute couple up and for them to spend the last 20% or so apart... *eye roll*

Don't get me wrong, I loved the two main characters, and as a couple *squee* adorable, or they were when Kalani finally let him into her heart. But I did feel like the story dragged a bit in the middle. All the sex scenes? Meh...I skipped most of them.
