Criminally Fun Animal Inspired Short Stories
This latest collection of short stories from the members of Sisters in Crime Chesapeake Chapter features 13 tales, or is it tails, involving animals. Yes, there are lots of dogs and cats featured, including a murdered crazy cat lady, a story about a dog getting into trouble with his human, and a movie stars famous dog. But we get some unusual animals, too, including an octopus and exploding cows.
As with any collection, there were a couple of stories that weren’t to my taste. But I would then find I loved the next one. And when each story takes less than 30 minutes to read, you aren’t committed to something you don’t like for very long. For short stories, the characters were well drawn, and each story featured at least one twist with longer ones features a few more surprises. While a couple stories trend a little darker, there are some light, very fun stories in the collection as well. Truly, there is something here everyone will enjoy.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated Scandal of the Season in Books

An absolute delight to read. Nothing pleases me more than a couple who genuinely loves each other. Its so hard to put into words how I feel about this novel. While its not groundbreaking or revolutionary, Scandal of the Season is a lovely read filled with mutual love built upon friendship. Its such a change from the romances where the couple fight the entire time or fall in love because they are forced into each others presence for extended periods of time (a.k.a soulmates trope).
I am not sure what I can say about this book. It had a simple but enjoyable storyline, entertaining characters, and a tender love story. The writer also has an easy style that make the story a pleasure to read. The only negative comment I have is that the title is a little misleading. I am still not sure what the scandal was
If you are a fan of historical romance, this should definitely be on your TBR list.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated The Stolen Chapters (Story Thieves, #2) in Books

When Owen and Kiel wake up, they are in the library with no memory of how they got there or even what happened in the last couple of weeks. Then someone in a mask shows up to announce that their friend Bethany is in danger, and if they don’t rescue her in the next couple of hours, they will never see her again. Then he sets the library on fire and calls the police on them. Can Owen and Kiel find Bethany, figure out who the villain is, and stop him?
This is the second in a series, and you don’t want to start here if you haven’t read the first. However, once you’ve read the first, you’ll absolutely love this book. There are lots of laughs and fun and surprises along the way, including a fantastic cameo by a character I grew up with. The book gets very meta, but just go with it because it is a ton of fun.

Sick, twisted... Great
1. Martyrs. A sick depraved film, in other words, it was great! Those French bastards strike again! I love that it had an intro from the director apologizing and thanking you for watching his film. From where it begins to where it ends it one crazy fun filled adventure... About a girl, Lucie who escapes the clutches of an evil couple that likes to torture young women, from there she meets Anna, and become very close friends, 15 years pass, and Lucie has tracked down the couple who tortured her and well, you can guess... Lucie also hallucinates just a tad in the form of a woman who was also being held captive... From that point on things get just a little nuts, in a totally good way of course!! What a way to end the countdown, with a pretty sweet sick movie... Acting was superb, felt everything was real, as nasty as it was lol!! But if sick n twisted is your game, and I bet it is, check it out!!! Filmbufftim on FB.
