Nikki G. (48 KP) rated Loving vs. Virginia: A Documentary Novel of the Landmar in Books
Sep 4, 2017
Nine years. That's how long Richard and Mildred Loving had to fight just to live together as husband and wife in the state of Virginia, their case traveling all the way to the Supreme Court. Ms. Powell recounts their travails in alternating pages, in spare but beautiful verse that makes you feel as if this couple, who were really quite ordinary but lived in a time when what we see as such today would have been extraordinary . . . or illegal, are right in the room with you, telling you their story.

Upon my first introduction to the show, I was not impressed. The story in the first two episodes moved rather slow for my taste. Fast forward a couple months and I'm home sick for two days when HBO was gearing up for season four. I gave it another chance and never looked back! This show will thrill, chill, and, sometimes, kill you! It provides more action than many blockbuster movies and has a terrific storyline that will leave you anxious for Sundays and dreading the long break between seasons.

About time DC had some fun!
Ok, so it's not great but you know what? Watch it for fun and you won't feel disappointed. The plot is ok, the action is good and the brooding hero of the hour is a perfect cast.
It's about time DC lightened up and they've done so here. Standard fayre, learning the ropes, training montages and a bit of a family feud but I can think of worse ways to spend a couple of hours. I'm looking at you Batman Vs Superman...

A very different season
After the tension of the previous couple of seasons, this one is very up and down. The biggest surprise was a huge jump in the time line early on in the series. As always there are big twists and a new group of baddies encountered. The series didn't really end on a big cliff hanger as usual. A mixed season with some good story lines but also a major shift in the overall feel of the show.

Mostly whimsical science-fantasy from possibly the world's most widely-read author in the genre. The majority of these stories are cybernetic folk-tales about robot kings, knights, princesses, and so on, having various unlikely experiences: the tales are droll but also highly imaginative and witty. Also included are a couple of longer, more serious stories - one about a man hunting a robot, the other about a robot hunting a man - no prejudice here, to paraphrase the translator. Well-written and entertaining, gives a sense of Lem's range as an author.

While it adds a couple of elements from the book that the original film left out, it takes a few too many liberties when deviating from the source material in other areas. (1 more)
The setup of the film takes far too little time, leaves many questions unanswered, confuses the average viewer that hasn't read the book, and lacks the ability to keep you immersed.

Not bad
So I've seen all the other movies from The Conjuring series so I had to see this one. It turned out pretty good. The acting was as good as the others and the cinematography/effects were really good. The story started ot a little slow but once things started happening they kept on going. A little predictable but still got me with a couple jump scares. The creepy factor is definitely there too. All in all if you liked the others you'll like this one too. Worth a watch!

A couple of these I have read for the authors before but a lot of these were new reads for me. I loved all these authors. They are amazing writers, the stories were so much fun to read. I loved the problems that they had.. the love that was found.. and of course all the paranormal beings in the stories. Totally amazing box set and I am so glad I got this from the authors for a read/review. I will recommend this set to all my friends

So this was really interesting and intriquing. I did get lost a couple of times because I should have read the first two before this one but overall I was able to figure out what characters were who and why. It was a really good read... I am not a big f/f fan to be honest but it was tastefully done and didn't bother me much. There was a lot of mystery involved.. the characters were easy going and funn to read and i am glad i got to review it

Strange
A very strange and quirky film. It has some scenes filmed in Scotland high streets with the cameras hidden whilst the public walk past Scarlett Johansson, in a wig, unnoticed. Even featuring a couple of people in the film who were just volunteers really to take part.
The score is good and helps with the eerie feel. The main problem is that the film doesn't seem to know which direction to take. It does turn quite dark suddenly as well. More well known for other reasons.
