"I really like Fargo a lot. It has everything. I love the Coen brothers. I love Frances McDormand, I think she’s just an extraordinary actress. She’s so funny in that movie, as Marge. I’m from the Midwest, I’m from Iowa; so obviously that accent’s really heightened, but it’s something that I hear every time I go home. It’s something that feels like very much where I grew up; that backdrop is exactly where I grew up. It’s definitely exaggerated but yeah, there’s definitely that, “Oh, oh my gosh” where I come from. And when I go home and after I have a couple of beers you’d probably hear it come out: “You betcha!” [laughs]"

"When I finally set off for Gombe many people felt it would be a wonderful opportunity for me to spend hours reading. A couple of people even suggested I take a good book to read while I was waiting for chimpanzees to arrive in a fruiting tree, or when I was sitting, hoping to see some, on the peak. I was shocked: how could I be immersed in the world of the wild chimpanzees if I was reading books about another place, another time. But I did have one book with me – I was reading it when I left London. It was Monica Dickens One Pair of Hands. I read it many times when I had malaria!"

"Tie: Night Chase and Dojo Fight The film is regarded as a classic but many people were skeptical when Ang Lee wanted to make this film. We really pushed ourselves on these two sequences. The Night Chase sequence not only had to have the actors flying on rooftops, but the cameramen as well. Combined with Tan Dun’s drums, the sequence is as thrilling to watch as it was to make. The Dojo Fight was a fun sequence. Ang Lee wanted a fight with “everything” so we used every weapon we could think of. Even though there are a couple comedic beats in the sequence, it really showed how powerful the Green Destiny sword was in the story."

"It stars Gregory Peck and Lee Remick as a couple who gives birth to the Bad Guy’s son. And how do you know? Well, he’s got 666 somewhere on his skull, and you got to move the hairs apart. I mean, it’s just very scary stuff, but when you really think about it, not a lot of blood and gore. There’s a scene where a guy is walking with the intent of hurting [the son, Damien], and then all of a sudden the truck rolls down a hill and decapitates the guy. You’re kind going, ‘What the Hell?’ And layer after layer of the story peel away until finally, later on, you understand.”

"What else would I go for? 2001. That’s gotta be up there. Just the trippiest, most beautiful epic. Again, I’m just sort of floored, really. I went to see the New York Philharmonic play the score live to a screening with my wife not that long ago, and it was awesome. There was an interval built in — it was obviously part of the film. We were shuffling back in after the interval, and I heard an elderly couple who were maybe not loving the experience. This guy is shuffling in and said to his wife, “Well, if you thought nothing happened in the first half…” [laughs] Yeah. She was not really loving that."

"This is more for a specific time in my life. It just brings me back to a really specific couple of years. For about four or five years all I was doing was delivering pizza before we got the show. I was pizza trapping for sure. That album is exactly that, thug motivation. I wasn’t trapping I was out there slinging pizzas and that was my bible. I was thinking, ‘This isn’t it. You got to hustle.’ It was the motion picture soundtrack to not settle, keep working towards an ultimate goal. I haven’t listened to that album in a while. I have to pop it back in. That was my pizza slangin’ soundtrack."
