Detective Lipscomb is a very strong character. Finding herself the scapegoat of all that has gone wrong on a previous case, she ends up being right at the centre of another high profile serial murder case but this isn't your ordinary serial killer; the victims are Helen's colleagues and it will take all her police know-how to solve the case whilst being under the microscope of the top brass who are just waiting for an excuse to get rid of her.

Written at a perfect pace with a great story line and tense moments, this is a good read that I would recommend.

I was kindly sent a copy of this book by the author after having previously read and reviewed a couple of his previous books - The Group and The Litter - which I thoroughly enjoyed and this one was no different.

This book was an ok read, it took me quite a while to get into it as the writing style is very different to what i'm used to. I found the story to be quite jumbled and sometimes I just had no idea which of the characters were speaking, I had to sometimes read a page a couple of times in order for it to sink in. Some of it a found quite funny but other bits I didn't really understand. The novel is very political, which probably explains why I kept losing interest (not to say it wasn't interesting at all- which is why I gave it 3 stars, I did like it, mainly because it was just different). The story had some good twists but I do believe that the ending was very unrealistic.

Loved it
* I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review*
This was a great YA read, however I did have a couple of things I didn't like about it. It started off slow, and the teens were a little unrealistic at times.
Other than that the book was great. Things quickly took an unexpected turn making it impossible to put the book down. I also really liked that this book didn't focus on romance. The YA genre usually throws unnecessary teen romance around everywhere, so it was nice to read a book where the characters had other things going on.
I will warn future readers that this book does end in a cliff. I was still satisfied with the ending, but I'm definitely going to pick up the next book as soon as possible.

These Girls Really Are Killin' It
A couple of British friends chatting about true crime, particularly murder, and discussing just how screwed up humans can be. While the podcast started out as Lux and Sam, it has since changed to Lux and Meg, and while Sam did have a very smooth voice and quick wit, the change to Meg has not made the podcast less than it was - it has simply made it different.
At the end of each episode (starting fairly recently) the girls have a segment where they say what they have been "killin'" each week, to provide a little lift at the end of the episode, and make the world appear a little less depressing.
Altogether, a cracking little podcast, definitely worth a listen.

So bad
This movie was bad. Post apocalyptic world where a young couple decide they have to go to the hometown of the wife because she hasn't heard from her parents in a while. The apocalyptic event wasn't a war or anything, the 'government' just decided to poison everyone with some kind of massive crop dusting technique. Survivors were anyone immune to the poison. Most people then belong to some violent gang or another and money still means something (what?). Anyway, the acting was shoddy at best and the cinematography was pretty low calibur. The characters were very boring and the story line was just all over the place. There's enough violence to say kids shouldn't watch it but this movie is so bad I'd say the adults should pass on it, too. This one is NOT worth a watch.

Do you dare to disagree?
This is one of those movies. You will cry everytime you watch it and yet feel so good afterwards. If you are about to watch this for the first time your in for a surprise. Our main characters are just us struggling in life Louisa to make a living and will to come to terms with his disability a. It is amazing to watch their main priority a in life become each other. It is lovely to see how life brings together a couple that would never have met and how much of an impact they have on eachothers lives.

Please go watch this movie it is honestly amazing and then leave your own review maybe we can have a debate about it ? although I've not yet met anyone who disagrees with me on this film yet.

So, I thought for this review i would make up some new words to expand your vocabulary.... but let's be serious, I'm a lazy reviewer. So, plot.... Alex and his friends get drunk on milk and go on an escapade. They befriend a homeless man and a couple. Alex gets chastised for being a bit naughty and has a eye widening television experience. He meets up with some old friends and...... oh wait, that was the end of the movie? Well.... ok then. Why does Stanley Kubrick just... I don't think he finishes movies. He just gets to a point and goes 'yeah, I'm done now'. Overall, interesting watch. One to show your friends.

I loved that the main character Is a bit crazy and klutzy. Fell in love but didn't even understand what was going on. Was stupidly funny and made me cry from laughing so much. (0 more)
That there is no spin off to this series for the best friend. A couple of the character seem to have exactly the same personality but they just cranked up the bitchy-ness. (0 more)

So this series is amazing I laughed my head at at the antics that happened. The main character will make you want to scream at you book, phone what ever you read on because she seems to be blind to what happening with the guy she meets in the first chapter. The best friend is amazing I want to be her, she is a complete bitch and it's great.

I received this book as part of the giveaway here on Smashbomb, and I'm really glad I did because this is a book that would have potentially passed me by. Its a very good debut novel by Alex Michaelides and I look forward to seeing where he takes it next.

The book its self is a very easy read and a real page turner, it throws plenty of red herrings your way and tries to keep you guessing, it keeps the characters interesting enough for you to care whats happening.

For me the ending was signposted very early on, but I still read with excitement towards the end to see how it all unfolded.

I'd certainly recommend it, its a couple of days read so can be consumed quite easily.
