This was a book club book but also on my never ending list. [Laura Hillenbrand] has a masterful way of telling a story that few authors possess. in [Unbroken] she introduces us to Louie Zamperini and takes us through the joy and trails of his life as a precocious child throughbeing an Olympic runner and of course his capture and imprisonment by the Japanese in World Way II. This is a story of strength, courage, doubt, and redemption that I encourage all to read.

The sheer courage of Jaycee. (0 more)

Emotional.
Jaycee Lee Duggard is a inspirational, brave and beautiful person and this book really sheds a light on what this poor woman went through. If you have read the story of her in the papers or watched documentaries, you should definitely read this. It's something I can't say I enjoyed for obvious reasons but I think it's written beautifully and more people should see why I think Jaycee is one of the strongest women I have ever experienced.

"I always mention this but no one goes out to see it. I love this idea of courage and that’s what gets you to the next level. I think Meryl Streep — who’s always good — it was so nice to see her as just a person and not a refugee who had to make a choice between her two children or whatever it was. No accent, no anything, just sort of Meryl Streep being sexy and being Meryl Streep. You’re not used to seeing her that way."

"Two women, one conquest, and a deadly mission where trust is the rarest currency of all."

Today’s feature is an Excerpt from Therein Lies the Pearl by Catherine Hughes — a richly textured story set against the turmoil of the Norman Conquest. With its focus on female courage, political danger, and shifting loyalties, this is a gripping read for anyone who loves immersive #HistoricalFiction rooted in #AngloSaxonHistory and #EarlyMedieval intrigue.
