Easy-going martial arts Jackie Chan/Owen Wilson (and Lucy Liu) film, with Chan portraying the party of a Chinese Forbidden City Imperial Guard soldier who travels to the Wild West of America to rescue the kidnapped Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu), and falls in with outlaw Roy O'Bannon (Wilson) along the way.

As a Jackie Chan film, you pretty much know what to expect: lots of martial arts slapstick in his own inimitable style (and pidgin English, which is still a lot better than my non-existent Chinese!) and a few 'that's a terrible name for a cowboy' puns along the way!

Love historical Western romance? If so, stop by my blog, and sneak a peek at THE OUTLAW'S DAUGHTER by Margaret Brownley. Enter the #GIVEAWAY to #win signed copies of the first two books in the series (Cowboy Charm School and The Cowboy Meets His Match)!

**BOOK SYNOPSIS**
He may be a Texas Ranger, but he only has eyes for the outlaw's beautiful daughter . . .

Texas Ranger Matt Taggert is on the trail of a wanted man. He has good reason to believe that Ellie-May's late husband was involved in a stagecoach robbery, and he's here to see justice done. But when he arrives in town, he discovers the thief has become a local hero . . . and his beautiful young widow isn't too happy to see some lawman out to tarnish her family's newly spotless reputation.

Ellie-May's shaken by her encounter with the ranger. Having grown up an outlaw's daughter, she'll do anything to keep her children safe—and if that means hardening her heart against the handsome lawman's smiles, then so be it. Because she knows Matt isn't about to give up his search. He's out to redeem himself and find proof that Ellie-May's husband wasn't the saint everyone claims . . . even if it means losing the love neither expected to discover along the way.

3.5 stars.

Something about this book kept me interested, kept me reading. Maybe it was the five year separation between this trio of friends and how they still had that same connection. Or maybe it was the romance between Jessa and Nico. Or maybe it was the mystery surrounding these notes she kept receiving. Whatever it was, I finished this book within a couple of hours.

This is my second book by the author, the first being [b:Cowboy Dark|16109369|Cowboy Dark (Summer Romance Collection, #1)|Tess Oliver|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1351199170s/16109369.jpg|20723472], the first book in this series and I enjoyed that one too.

BLURB:
It began as a typical day…
Fiercely independent bakery owner Kate Halloran likes her life the way it is. Casual sex suits her to a T. Work hard, play hard is Kate’s motto. No strings. No demands. No obligations. The ties that bind chafe. She learned a long time ago that the only person she can depend on is herself—and that’s just fine thank you very much.
Then a fast-acting highly contagious novel virus sweeps the globe, ushering a nationwide lockdown. Violence erupts in the streets. Chaos reigns. With the population decimated, Kate’s self-sufficiency kicks into overdrive as she fears she’s the sole survivor. When the dead awaken, Kate becomes prey. Desperate and hunted, she undertakes a dangerous journey—fleeing to the only refuge she knows.
The sanctuary of Mayfly Hollow isn’t without its perils. Can the other survivors there be trusted? And what about the mysterious cowboy called Teller, who gets under her skin like no man ever has? There’s more to him than meets the eye—she can’t help but wonder how much of his aww shucks routine is genuine.
As threats close in on every side, can Kate set aside her complicated past to navigate the new world order?

One of the more ridiculous manga that I have read. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have requested it, but after a break up, what better to read than some bubbly manga to cheer you up? The only reason I gave it such a high rating was the art work, and even of that I have seen better.

The plot was thin and the characters psychotic. Any stereotypical elements that are found in most mangas can be found in this book. Except cross dressing....

I seriously don't know how this manga received such high ratings. Maybe it was because I was raised on Cowboy Bebop, Gundam Wing, and Blue Sub. No. 6 that I expect more out of mangas.

Houston, 1961: comedy meets mystery and history. It's hard to be hard-boiled when your biggest fan and worst critic is your twelve-year-old daughter, especially when she's cracking your case for you and defending you from the bad guys, along with sidekicks human and feline.
