Book Divas (227 KP) rated Salem's Vengeance (Vengeance Trilogy, #1) in Books
Dec 12, 2017
I received a free ebook copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I made no guarantee of a favorable review.
The Salem Witch Trials have always intrigued me as I am fascinated and appalled at the naivety of people. This book's story line takes place 19 years after those trials and the author's creative writing transported me in to the story. Strong and well developed were the story and its characters and the revelations that are revealed via a journal were outstanding. I cannot wait to read the second book and I highly recommend that everyone reads it.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Schools of Fish! in Books

This book is based on the Fish Philosphy that began in a fish market & has been used to help build successful businesses with caring employees. The same is true of Schools of Fish! except this book is centered around, you guessed it, schools.
The ideas in the book are creative & the book gets you pumped up for the school year at hand. I have found myself going back through the book to re-read things I remembered.
On the down side a lot of the suggestions are difficult to keep tabs on or keep up with in the already jam packed school day.

Jessica Cashen (1 KP) rated Rise of the Reaper in Books

Awesome book. Well written with a great plot and characters. The world building is phenomenal! Lorna Reid is also creative making up a new sport called Aquattrox. We follow 4 teenagers who learn that their parents are warriors that can wield magic. Which in turn thrusts these 4 teens into coping with this info plus starting to dabble in magic themselves. I like what the book is hinting at where it may go, and I can't wait to read the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.
ArecRain (8 KP) rated Modern Wreaths to Make in a Day in Books
Jan 18, 2018
As someone who has never made a wreath before but really wanted to try, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! There were a lot of interesting ideas that I couldn't have thought of otherwise, unconventional items if you will such as ballons and cupcake wrappers.
Not only are these wreaths cute and creative, but simple and fun to make as well. My 8 year old niece could easily makes these, and, since they are so quick and easy, be able to complete it in one sitting. Not to mention they won't cost you an arm and leg to make!

Steph (468 KP) rated The Flight of the Silvers (Silvers, #1) in Books

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The beginning starts with a mystery that leaves you excited to discover what it means. I was worried that I wouldn't be satisfied with the solution or that the ending would disappoint me enough that the book wouldn't be enjoyable. I was wrong on all counts. The book delightfully sets up an alternate universe with interesting parallels to our own. The magic system is creative, novel, and well-explained. Finally, the characters are well-rounded, three-dimensional, and fun. I enjoyed every minute of it- couldn't put it down!
Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated Liars’ Paradox in Books

As a fan of Taylor Stevens’ Munroe series, I was at once skeptical and hopeful. Could this start to a new series be as inventive, creative, intriguing and amazing as the one I loved but would not see more of? The answer is a big yes! I was so excited when I began this novel and it gripped me in the first few paragraphs. I was thrilled when it introduced complex and bold characters. I was hooked when it provided an interesting and layered plot. I miss Vanessa “Michael” Munroe, but I am very glad for Jack and Jill.
Barry Newman (204 KP) rated Beetlejuice (1988) in Movies

A creative and fun slice of early Tim Burton with the director beginning to establish his signature blend of dark humour and gothic landscapes populated by weird creatures. The quirky story and (due to their fantastical nature) the special effects still hold up well today , Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis also make for likeable leads but Michael Keaton of course steals the show in the title role ( even if I was surprised by how little screen time he actually has). This isn’t Tim Burton’s best film but you can certainly see his talent starting to develop and this is a fun little romp.
