Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children in Books
Jan 15, 2018
Hmm...well the word peculiar in the title certainly fits this book exceptionally well! I'm not quite sure what to say about it. It is without a doubt like nothing else I've ever read. The story is interesting & quite the concept...very creative. Yet it still felt like there was something missing, but I'm hard pressed to put my thumb on just what that would be!
The characters are well written & nicely developed. The plot moves along nicely with some twists & turns. The ending left a bit to be desired, but it was very open. I hear there is a sequel in the works so that explains that. It was an okay read & I do think I'd pick up the next book in the series. Maybe it will help me make up my mind on how I feel about Miss Peregrine & her peculiar children. I guess we will see...

Murder on a Space Ship
Sylvia Stryker has hacked her way onto Moon Unit 5’s maiden voyage, and she is hoping to keep a low profile. However, within hours of getting on board, she finds a body in the uniform closet. Now she finds herself facing questions not only about whether she should be on the ship but about the murder itself. Setting out to clear her name, she begins to wonder if something much bigger is going on. Can she stop it?
I loved this mystery set in space. It took me a little while to fully feel comfortable in Sylvia’s world, but that was a minor complaint. The mystery starts quickly and the pace is steady until the end. The characters we got to know were strong, and I can’t wait to see them again. The setting really was creative and well done.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated A Second Chance at Murder (A Love Or Money Mystery #2) in Books

Georgia and Scott are back to compete on a second reality show, this one a race across Europe with challenges along the way. But the night before the race even begins, Scott disappears and a woman is murdered. With the police certain that Scott is a killer, Georgia must find him and prove his innocence. Can she do it?
This was a wonderfully creative cozy. The mystery kept me guessing until the end, and the disappearance added a nice element to the story. The characters were strong as well. The race aspect was kept as a sub-plot, and the location in Spain was brought to life so much that I now want to visit.
NOTE: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Frog Ledge’s Groundhog Day celebration is cut short when the town historical, elderly Helga Oliver, is found dead at the bottom of the Historical Museum stairs. But when whispers that it was murder reach Stan’s ears, she begins to dig in and see if she can find the truth.
There are many plot threads introduced early that slow down the pacing of the story a little, but as the book progresses, we see how everything ties together. There are some good twists and a creative climax. The characters are great, and we even get to see a different side to a couple of them, which I really appreciated.
NOTE: I was sent an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Smoorgan (8 KP) rated Apple iPad in Tech

Amazing battery life
Using mine to type this review now, my iPad Pro has been the best tablet ive found to use to date. Not only has it got access to the App Store with a great range off apps, but the cloud memory is reliable and secure. The battery life I have found to hold well and not deteriorate since I brought it nearly a year ago. Though it takes a while to charge, and I usually put it on overnight, it then lasts almost all day with constant use on social media, video steaming and internet browsing. The Apple Pencil that pairs with the IPad pro also enhances its uses by broadening the user ability for fine detail in the aspect of creative design and intricate detail.
I wouldn’t return to any other brand than apple for my phone and tablet technology.
