I just wanted to say sorry for my lack of support in the past month. I'm at the tail end of my post graduate creative writing dissertation and I've needed to focus hard.

It has been a LONG time since I have done any writing outside of my reviews (journaling/poetry/creative ramblings) and in just a few days of reading these devotions, my passion was reignited and the encouragement is exhilarating! I really enjoyed the prayer at the end of each devotion entry. The prompts and activities are excellent to motivate those creative juices. Whether you are a blogger, speaker, author or you just enjoy expressing yourself through writing, this devotional is for you!

"This is actually is fifteen of Edward Gorey’s illustrated masterpieces in one. My favorite is The Unstrung Harp, about a novelist writing his biennial book—the funniest and most accurate description of the creative process I’ve ever seen."

Incredibly creative and disturbing look at transformation
Han Kang is an absolute gem in terms of creative writing and The Vegetarian does not disappoint. It's difficult to explain without completely spoiling the plot but it consists of a woman becoming vegetarian and her subsequent 'transformation'.

The beautiful imagery and the graphic details about mental health is unique, and at times the insanity of the novel resembles Kafka's Metamorphosis. It is definitely in that league of magical realism.

my favorite film of all time.
We watched this for my Creative Writing class when I was in the 10th grade in 2014. I had never heard of it before, but after watching it, it broke me. Fantastic acting from the entire cast, especially from the late Robin Williams. It really captured the essence of friendship and camaraderie between the characters.

"Kathy Acker was a punk-rock, post-modern writer-artist and she wrote this piece after her mother died. The title says all there is to know about her feelings towards her mother. Acker’s writing coalesces to its most epic as she reinvents, bends, and destroys language, to build a world that is a complete psychological immersion and creative experience. Her books are a gift to humanity."

Hey everyone. I know I have been bombarding this site with book reviews. I am a professional book reviewer and write for a national newspaper (under my other name). I do believe, however, in paying it forward, so these are some of my many reviews. I graduated from University last year with a BA Hons First class in English Literature, so as you might guess, I love books. I am now at the tail end of a post graduate course in Creative Writing and just started my dissertation. This site is a nice distraction and a great way to procrastinate, I would love to hear from like minded book people. I love memoir and am in the process of writing my own.

im also headed to school for creative writing and have written 3 books, none published because i'm to freaked out to let another person read them, they are memories of my life and i'm not ready to take that step yet. Im probably going to do the same as you, write a ton of books reviews because i'm obsessed with them LOL

I usually love Elizabeth Berg's novels but this one was hard to get through. It was boring and I could not find any empathy for the protagonist from the beginning to the end. The protagonist claims to have more than a little crush on Donald Trump, so that might be part of the reason I couldn't like her. She didn't have much of a personality and seemed to be constantly searching for a life that never happened. Her interchanges with other characters were unpleasant at best. The only redeeming quality of this book was that it offered a few ideas for creative writing when she suggested topics and writing exercises for a class she was teaching. Other than that, it was a very dissatisfying read.
