Kate (493 KP) rated Between a Rock and a Deadly Place (Cedar Fish Campground Series Book 1) in Books

I enjoyed this book. Even though it was a crime book with a murder it was also quite light-hearted.
It was definitely different to the normal crime books I read but it was still enjoyable.
I was gripped from the first chapter and once I got into it I couldn't put it down. There was just something about it that I couldn't put down. There was also a romantic story running alongside the murder.
The author kept me reading and it was written in a nice style.
I connected with the characters...mainly the main character. I got a sense of who she was and who she became towards the end of the book. She definitely grew as a person.
The book was intended for late teens to late 20's.
The blurb made me interested and the book lived up to it. The book didn't turn out as I thought it would after reading the blurb.
I would purchase the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

Merissa (13878 KP) rated The Best New True Crime Stories: Crimes of Passion, Obsession & Revenge in Books
Dec 13, 2021 (Updated Jul 9, 2023)
THE BEST NEW TRUE CRIME STORIES: CRIMES OF PASSION, OBSESSION & REVENGE is an eclectic mix of stories from all over the world, set in different times, from Victorian England to Japan, to modern-day America.
If you like True Crime then I am sure you will find something to keep your interest. It is clear from the start that a lot of research has gone into these stories, some of which have personal memories from the author. However, some of the stories felt disjointed in the way they were presented, going off on tangents that didn't seem relevant to the story at that point.
Each story features the bare bones of the story; being a collection, there simply isn't room for much more. However, it gives you the story, some build-up, and some information after the crime.
On the whole, this was an enjoyable read by a new-to-me author.

Thankfully, there are more high points in Gotham than low points. The growing tension between two crime families takes on a life of it’s own throughout season one with Oswald Cobblepot firmly in the middle.

This programme is absolutely hilarious!! There are funny one liners as well as just funny situations.
There is some character progression throughout the series as the women discover a life of crime and the choices it then leads too.
Really hoping they make a season 2 as the first season ends on quite the cliffhanger.
