Shaun Collins (3 KP) rated Doctor Who: Renaissance of the Daleks in Books
Jan 12, 2018
Ambitious, but over reaching. The story can't really make up it's mind tonally what it's going for. One minute there are cute wind up Daleks over running the console room (which felt like it would have been great comedy) the next are horrible implications of preventing the Dalek invasion of Earth from happening (which aren't as serious as the story makes out). The result is a bit of a muddled mess. Enjoyable, but swinging the pendulum either way toward spoof or full blown Dalek mayhem would have helped immensely.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated Bug Meets His Friend in Books
Apr 27, 2018
The Bug Children series sounded really cute, but I was dismayed when I read them. The stories are written in verse, but the verse isn't very creative and doesn't flow very well. There isn't much story to the books, and a younger child would lose attention before the halfway mark. The illustrations are nothing special, and look blocky and stretched in strange ways. Lastly, Bug didn't look like either a bug or a VW bug. He looked like a squashed banana.
Sorry to say I can't really envision many children enjoying these books.

Jessica Erdas (463 KP) rated A Dog's Purpose in Books
May 16, 2018
I had heard a little about this book before I saw that it was being made into a movie. The concept seemed cute and was definitely a good read. I was not prepared for the amount of sadness that I would have while reading and every time Cameron described the aging of the dogs, I found myself petting mine and holding her closer. Well written and easily embraces the view point of a dog from beginning to end and back again. I think all dog lovers should read this but have a tissue handy.

KittyMiku (138 KP) rated Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (2005) in Movies

Teaches kids not to judge someone based on looks (1 more)
Cute love stort
I love anything by Tim Burton, but the music and story in this movie has me swooning everytime. I am all for a good love story, but it definitely was different than most love stories out there. I couldn't help but fall in love with it. Not to mention the music will have you choking up a bit with emotion. With Burton's animating style and wonderful way to tell a story, there is no way you can absolutely hate it.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Swipe Right in Books
Feb 17, 2018
This is a well written and sweet coming out book. The uncertainty of knowing who you are in an world that you know is not kind and accepting is captured by Archer. Eve lays low figuring just get to college and life can begin for her. The she is talked into trying a new GLBT dating app. The worst that can happen in social media does but then the best. It definately was a cute book and I really wish there were more books like this when I was a teenager.

I received this book through Goodreads Giveaway. This is a super cute book. It is written simply but in a way that kids of all ages can appreciate it. I teach 10 and 11-year-olds and they loved the book. They loved the way the book was presented with text and high-quality pictures to accompany the text. The adventure the suitcase goes on allows for the reader to want to read more books to see where the suitcase goes on his around the world trip.
