Quite possibly McIntyre's best work to date!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

I'm not rehashing the blurb, and I'm not telling you the story, I'ma just gonna jump straight in!

READ THIS FREAKING BOOK, PEOPLE!

It's so well written, from both Rhys and Cole's POV, in the first person, each chapter headers the change.

It's steamy and smexy (sooooooooooooooooooo smexy!) It's deeply emotional, for both Rhys and Cole and that surprised me, don't ask me why, cos I've no freaking idea! I just expected this to be a light and fluffy book. And it is, but with a heavy side of emotions.

It's sweet and cute, it's so freaking cute. Full of the warm and fuzzies that low/no angst books carry. Full of emotion and love.

Rhys is in a dark place when he comes into contact with Cole, and after that, it's just two guys falling in love! Throw in McIntyre's skill with found families, and extended families, and a 2 yr old called Sammy and you've got, for me, possibly McIntyre's best work yet!

AND this is the first in a new series and I cannot wait for the next one!

I'm making this a relatively short review, I might start ranting and raving, and if I allow myself free reign, you could end up with a 10,000 word review!

I'm putting this on my Masterpiece shelf! I abso-freaking-lutely loved this book and I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

5 full and shiny stars.

Main story revolves around Peter finding his dad. Also, Peter accepts that the thing he has been searching for far and wide (the whole galaxy), has been there all along right beside him and after losing that he appreciated what he had and he comes to term with the loss. There is a side story of a long standing sisterly rivalry between Gamora and Nebula, which sort of resolves; they find that they do care about each other. Always have. Groot is cute as ever and Rocket accepts that, yes, he does care for the team and that he does have a heart. Drax is...Drax. The new addition (Mantis) is innocent (like baby Groot).

The New Warriors had a very slow start for me, it wasn't until more than halfway that it finally started to click, and not because of some datedness. I think the writers and artists started finding their characters and where to go and how to get there. I happen to like some of retro-ness of the "heroes for the nineties" as is emblazoned a few places. Skateboards, blatant Batman rip-off, cheesy humor and slang, mention of one of my favorite shows ever (21 Jump Street); yeah, I'm not ashamed, I love it. Some of the little adverts or whatsits after the extra artwork were cute too. There are some genuinely great moments nearer the end and look forward to more.

Scrappy Little Nobody is a cute, relatable celebrity book. Anna Kendrick charms you with her unique perspective and opens up in ways she hasn't before. The book is not generally funny, nor do I believe it's meant to be, but it has its moments and stories that make you laugh. She is definitely a more normal celebrity who shares some of her confusion about the industry, fashion, and events. You realize its nor all glitz and glamour, but these are real people with emotions, problems and they get just as overwhelmed and pleased as we would if we were receiving an award. It's not the best celebrity book I've read, but it was enjoyable and I recommend it if you're a fan of hers.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

The second work I read by this author, and I honestly enjoyed it more. That may have more to do with the fact that I love friends to lovers stories. While I understand the male lead’s hesitation, I feel that it’s less realistic in adults especially since his torture is self-induced. I was also annoyed that the female lead was crushing on him even though she brought a date with her. I find that tasteless and childish.

Ignoring all that, it was a cute quick read with enough heat between the leads to make it feel real and the author is great at writing engaging dialogue.

The King's Locket is a lovely story about family and forgiveness. Throughout the short text, there are illustrations of important moments that children can marvel at. This is a book that a parent would need to read to their child, as there are some words that would be challenging for younger readers and require explanation. Overall, it was a cute story and I would definitely read it to my younger cousin when I babysit for her. I think she would enjoy the tale very much. I would probably rate it a 4.5/5 mostly because a child couldn't read it by themselves (although nightly reading to a child is important) thus it felt a little above a child's level at times.
