TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated The Amish Marriage Bargain in Books
Feb 24, 2021
This book had a great storyline and I really enjoyed the marriage bargain explanation that the author gives us. I also liked the themes Marie E. Bast wove through the book. In Example, forgiveness is something we do have to work towards, it is not usually something automatic that happens. I thought Marie E. Bast did a good job conveying this theme throughout the book. The main characters were interesting and made you want to stick around and see what happens to them in the end. I did not really like the flow of the story though, there was to much disconnect between the characters’ feelings and their reactions to events that take place. However, if you enjoy reading Amish fiction then you would probably enjoy this book.
I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars for the interesting storyline, the cute characters, and for the theme of forgiveness.

Life moves at a leisurely pace in the tiny town of Wall - named after the imposing stone barrier which separates the town from a grassy meadow. Here, young Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the beautiful Victoria Forester and for the coveted prize of her hand, Tristran vows to retrieve a fallen star and deliver it to his beloved. It is an oath that sends him over the ancient wall and into a world that is dangerous and strange beyond imagining . . .
This was such a cute little fairy tale! It was a little odd and quirky I loved it. Neil Gaiman is brilliant and his writing is brilliant! It was genuinely a sweet fairy tale written in Victorian England/ fairie land.

Jeez, this made me cry so much last night. There wasnt enough bedding on my bed for all my tears. It was so hard to read Israel's emotional outbursts in regards to the parents he'd grown up with and how he'd never been good enough for them. It seemed so unfair. I really was an emotional mess.
But the highlight of his life, his best friend Sam, who made him realise he was loved by lots of other people and by Sam himself. To me, it was pretty obvious that Sam wanted him on a deeper level than just a best friend but i think Iz was going through enough things in his life right then to not let it all sink in despite the signs. It was actually pretty cute.
I do like my N.R. Walker books and look forward to reading more in the future.

Mothergamer (1568 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Carto in Video Games
Dec 7, 2020
Carto is an adorable puzzle game. You play as a young girl named Carto who gets separated from her grandma cartographer. The entire game is about Carto finding a way to get back to her grandma using her own cartographer abilities. Carto can take map pieces and put them together to make new paths appear and new islands. The map pieces look like tiles and they fit together in certain ways to unlock these paths and new areas. As the story progresses the game shows new ways to do the puzzles and Carto makes new friends on her journey. The music in the game is very calming and I never felt rushed to solve the puzzles. You can take your time with the game and enjoy the cute characters and the charming artwork. I think I can safely say that this book has been a hit with my children, the four year old has asked to be read it three times in a row, the six year old is now reading it for a fourth time, and both have demanded to know what Sparky does next.
Sparky is a cute purple dinosaur, learning some valuable lessons on not giving up when something is difficult, but also that sometimes the best thing to do to learn a new or difficult skill is to just have some fun. It's a lovely message for little ones, especially early in their schooling.
I've especially appreciated being able to use it as a conversation starter with the 6 year old who has some speech issues, and finds it a struggle not being quite like the other children in the class.
I would highly recommend this book.
