This starts with Penelope writing romances involving herself and various other students she finds attractive in her journal as she takes a break from her job at the on campus diner, only to be interrupted by her nemesis and super jock, Ryker. They continually wind each other up but Ryker can't help but be fascinated and drawn to the nerdy girl, and she can't help but write him into her romances.
I read I Hate You (Charm & Blaze's story) a while ago and this seems to take place around the same time as the events of that one so it's been a little strange that they aren't a couple yet... It's hard to figure out the right order since they aren't actually listed as a series.
Everything seemed so familiar with this book, almost like I'd read it before - maybe it's because of the above issue. I did like it though. The nerdy but rebel girl and the jock. It was cute in the end and I loved how they finally got together, it was slow and steady.
I really didn't like Archer. He wasn't a nice guy, too obsessed with getting Captain of the football team and crushing whoever got in his way. He eventually got what he deserved.
I'm still standing by my words from the review of I Hate You and would love to read Dillon's story, I Promise You.

The book is about two families but mostly about a songwriter that somehow ends up taking care of this own house. The way it comes about seems kind of cute. We also have Emma who is struggling to be a musician. How will Emma and West's relationship go?
Will Gillian or maybe Harris mess up the sweet romance that is blooming? Does this seem to take a turn when someone figures out who West is? Is the caretaker who he is? Emma seems to be belated with the house they are staying in and the area in Colorado. Will the family and guest learn to ski and enjoy Christmas before going home?
The author writes this book well. This book is Christmas themed and charming. I enjoyed it. The only thing I kinda wish it was a bit more to it. Though I guess, I read too many romances to see how it ends. It is not all that bad. The story is caring and a bit different in the way that the owner is the one in more of a predicament than the heroine.

Eleanor Luhar (47 KP) rated Eleanor & Park in Books

I've heard so much about this; everyone seems to have read and fallen in love with it. I decided it was about time I give it a go!
It is a wonderful book. It tells the story of Park, a half-Korean punk-music-loving boy in Omaha. And it tells the story of Eleanor, the big red-headed girl who's moved back in with her large family after being kicked out by her step-dad.
I love how this tells their individual stories as well as the story of them as a couple. The problems Park encounters with his dad, and the horrible things Eleanor endures from her nasty step-father. And the way the pair of them began to fall in love during their time together on the school bus.
Romances aren't really my thing, but this was rather cute. I must admit that I have to question the reality of some of it; it seemed to happen so quickly and almost perfectly. Actually, that's a lie. It isn't perfect. It is realistically imperfect in the way that they have their doubts and problems. But it was just all so fast... I don't know. I'm not exactly an expert in these things!
The ending was heartbreaking. It was unexpected, too, though I suppose I should have seen it coming to an extent. Rainbow Rowell (great name!) has made this relate-able and emotional and easy to read. 4 stars for Eleanor & Park.

This one starts with Ace admiring a billboard for what must be the hundredth time of a guy he fantasises about every night, stopping traffic in the process as he heads off to the reading of his new film. It just so happens that the guy from the billboard is sitting in on the reading and is going to have a part in the film. There is an instant attraction between the two and though Ace tries to fight it, he can't help but be drawn to the confident Dylan.
What follows is some hot man on man action and a cute romance between the recently out-of-the-closet-but-too-afraid-to-find-anyone actor and the confident model who's trying his hand at acting. They are pretty perfect for each other.
But Ace is wary of trying to find someone when he's so publically in the spotlight as he knows they'll be hounded by the press and every dirty secret they may have will be aired to the world. And since this is a series, of course that very thing happens right before the book ends, so I'm intrigued about future books but I'm not in a hurry to go and buy it.
We get alternating viewpoints in this, which admittedly gets a little confusing at times with them both being men and trying to remember whose VP you've just read
