Do you remember the first time you saw this?
I think for a lot of people, The Matrix was one of their very first DVD purchases as it was once of the first major releases that sold extremely well.

Having recently upgraded my original DVD to a Matrix trilogy Blu Ray collection, I was anxious to give the film another viewing. Boy was I not disappointed.

Citing the obvious breakthrough visual effects as a marvel at the time for their truly unique vision, the story and ideas presented in the film are still really what stands out. The riveting thought-provoking vision and cinematic experience of watching the original Matrix film are still a unique experience and one which is tough to beat.

Say what you want about the sequels, the original film is still a masterpiece.

"As much as I love this film and have seen it hundreds of times, I feel like I never TRULY saw it before looking at this remastered DVD! Such beautiful black and white! Every character in this film is a feast for an actor to play . . . even the maid (Jean Dixon) is rich with her own cynicism and longings. The chemistry between William Powell and Carole Lombard is something seldom glimpsed these days. And yet their romance had long before this film bloomed, gone to marriage and divorce. But the couple remained the closest of friends and the warm feeling between them is brimming in every single frame of the film. The DVD also includes the Lux Radio Theater broadcast, and there are some really fun outtake bloopers with Eugene Pallette—LOVE HIM—and Powell and Lombard."

This movie did not impress me at all, and JLaw definitely didn't deserve the Oscar for this cluster (she should have won for Winter's Bone). The portrayal of mental illness was shiesty, in my opinion. Bradley Cooper was ok, but not his best.
Writing this has reminded me that I need to toss the dvd in my sell pile to go to half price books.

Avoid!
Hmm Left on the shelf would be a better sub title. A very weak low budget entry in the series. No where near as good as the first and the 2nd wasn't bad for a straight to DVD sequel. It has a fair amount of gore, a couple of inventive kills and that's about it? Turn the other way and find a better slasher film.

Best thing I've watched in a while
I have read a few books about Chernobyl so was intrigued I was sent the DVD via a giveaway here. The story is well thought out and put together so it has a good flow. There are a few moments where things are exaggerated but nothing that detracts from the story.
