Unforgettable
Director Claude Lanzmann, who recently passed away at the age of 92, spent a significant portion of his life working on interviews, editing and putting together this immaculate epic masterpiece portrait of the Holocaust through the words of people who were there and lived through the torture.

I sobbed for days after watching the more than 13 hours of footage from the documentary and the DVD extras. Some of the descriptions and scenes were so moving I actually had to pause for a moment to collect myself before continuing.

I purchased when Criterion had one of their 50% off sales and it was well worth it. You will be changed forever as a person after watching this and you will start to think all your first-world problems are minuscule in comparison.

Enjoyed the final chapter of the Infinty Saga. Definitely a fitting end. (4 more)
Jake Gyllenhaal (probably spelt it wrong) is brilliant as Mysterio.
Very amusing! Daughter loved the quips from MJ.
No spoilers here... But the scene when spidey gets disorientated... Loved it! Very cleverly executed.
As usual: some great call backs to characters from precious marvel movies.
None. No criticism! (0 more)
Thank you Smash Bomb!
Received the DVD from Smash Bomb giveaway. Super pleased to have won it. Delivered really quickly as well.
The film itself... I watched it at the cinema and even though I'd already seen it, like most marvel movies, was more than worth another watch.
Storyline was great to finish off the infinity Saga.
Actors were brilliant. Especially loved Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio.
Enjoyed the callbacks to previous marvel movies and felt the film was executed brilliantly.

"Choosing a Cassavetes film was the hardest part of making this list. All his films have continued to inspire me—every aspect of them. He’s one of the only filmmakers where I will put on the DVD just to listen to his commentary. His ideals, his pursuit of the road less traveled—and traveled in a way that is curious, thought-provoking, and dangerous—have always excited me. I take his box set with me to every set. Each film has an incredible backstory, and leaves me thinking, How the hell did he pull that off?! Gena Rowlands is absolutely stunning in every way in this film. And I love watching her and John act together, especially with her drunk during an improvised play for hundreds of extras who showed up because John took an ad out in the paper."

"Criterion’s comprehensive edition of this long-undervalued film is a major DVD event, though it may not enlarge the film’s fan base. The problems, beyond a few incomprehensible plot points, include a dreadful lead performance by Nixon look-alike Robert Arden, who is surrounded by terrific actors in the margins (Akim Tamiroff, Michael Redgrave, Mischa Auer, Katina Paxinou), plus gorgeous Paola Mori; the result feels a bit like Hamlet without Hamlet. Then there is Welles’s wig and beard, evidently borrowed from a junior high school performance of Faust. Never mind: there are many, many unforgettable moments, and the plot is so good—detective as inadvertent Judas goat—that a fine, conventional film could still be made from the same material. Criterion includes the surprisingly good novel, which Welles variously took and denied credit for. In my hearing, he took credit."

Far from what I expected...
All my life I thought this was a Christmas film, yet today I when I kickstarted the Christmas viewing for this year, I found Christmas barely entered into it. Despite the appearances of DVD covers, the inclusion of the classic Bing hit "White Christmas" and "Happy Holidays", Christmas features in this very little.

Bing and Fred are incredible as always, but it felt like a pick and mix of songs relating to various holidays, including "Easter Parade", "Abraham" (an uncomfortable blackface celebration of the birth of Lincoln), and a song about firecrackers for the 4th of July.

Overall, even at only 100 minutes, the film was too long to maintain my interest, most likely due to the fact I was expecting a far more festive treat.
