One of Danny Boyle's Best
Danny Boyle is one of those directors that can rarely do wrong, and he really excels here with this beautiful sci-fi. It's well acted and has a fantastic cast, the effects are brilliant and it's a really interesting plot. The soundtrack by John Murphy is probably one of my all time favourite soundtracks, so haunting and memorable.

Interesting take on a biopic

A Great Biopic
You can't really go wrong with Danny Boyle and Michael Fassbender. This is a fascinating take on Jobs' life and an intriguing idea to have it focus on a few major events as opposed to his entire life. Fassbender puts in a fantastic performance with a great supporting cast, and Aaron Sorkin's script is packed with wit and humour. My only criticism would be it is slightly slow paced at times.

Enjoyable to a point
I love Danny Boyle, he's one of my favourite directors (and he's a local lad) although I have to admit this is probably one of my least favourite films of his so far.
Richard Curtis and Danny Boyle working on the same film should be a match made in heaven. However the result is this enjoyable but sadly rather predictable romcom. Himesh Patel is a likeable lead, but I found the romance aspect with him and Lily James entirely corny and completely predictable, even for Richard Curtis. The music is good, it would be seen as it's the Beatles, however I did find it odd that in the story Himesh finds out about a number of bands and things that no longer exist (some are quite funny), yet only decides to choose the songs from the Beatles. Could they not get the rights for anything else?
There's a few laughs in this although not as many as I'd expected, and I loved the nod to Love Actually. Overall the film is enjoyable and your typical feel good Brit flick, however I don't think it's particularly memorable or exceptional.

Okay zombie movie but disappointing Danny Boyle movie
Okay so I saw 28 Days Later when I was 14 and had no idea what the hell I was watching. It was way too different from other zombie movies out, in fact it never really says zombie at all. The film works with it's settings, actors, and violence but it doesn't when it's telling the overall story. The ending kinda gets distracted and uninteresting fast at that point as I kinda stopped caring. Danny Boyle has directed alot of movies that are great like Steve Jobs, Slumdog Millionaire (yes it's a great movie), and Trainspotting but this reminded me of Sunshine so much. I mean there's a great premise that takes new twists and turns that the kind of story doesn't do. It works well for most of the movie till the very end that doesn't stick the landing cleanly. I still say this is worth a watch considering how stupid 28 weeks later is... And believe when you get done with the beginning of that one, you'll k know what I'm talking about...

Re-watched this recently and it's just as visceral and as brilliant as it was fifteen years ago. Danny Boyle is one hell of a filmmaker and this is one of the best zombie movies ever made.
It's a unique take on a now tired genre, with just as much fleshed out characterisation as there is brutality and gore. There's a few edge of your seat moments towards the movie's climax and the movie feels like a journey with all of the ups and downs that you would expect in a zombie chase movie across England.
Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson, Naomi Harris and Christopher Eccleston are all great in the movie and the only weak link in the cast is the actress playing Hannah, but that can be forgiven as the rest of the cast around her are so good.
Brilliant direction, really good SFX for its time and definitely worth a watch if you have never seen it.

Danny Boyle is a director who rarely disappoints me even with weaker material his unique visual style makes for entertaining viewing. For me this was one of his better recent efforts and the story here is compelling with twists and turns galore (some plausible and some perhaps not so plausible) as we slowly unravel multiple plot lines connected with hypnosis and a botched art heist. The film is well paced and visually very impressive and kept me suitably hooked. The performances are also strong with James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel being the standouts but if the films plot leaves you scratching your head just a bit too much then there is always an eyebrow raising turn from Rosario Dawson that will certainly leave you with fond memories of the film.
