RINGMASTER is the first book in Arden Hart's new Dark Romance series, Seven Sins Carnival. And I've mentioned right at the beginning that this is Dark Romance, because light and fluffy it certainly is not!

Elias is the ringmaster (obviously) of the carnival, and his brothers all have different roles. Most of them are not related by blood, but by trauma, shock, and horror. They were disgustingly abused by a cult, but escaped. Now, as adults, they are seeking vengeance. Jules is a freelance reporter who knows there is a story there. She just doesn't know how twisted it is.

If you don't like Primal Play, PDAs, or exhibitionism, then this may not be the book for you! Because it has all that and more. Elias and his brothers are all deranged in their own perfect ways, but the story is written in a way that makes it understandable. My heart breaks for Rowe, and I can't wait for his story.

Silas is next, and I hope we see more of Jules and Elias, too. This was a great, bloody start to a new series, and I am here for it. Absolutely recommended by me.

Definitely my favorite of the series thus far. Nell was a practical, yet stubborn and light-hearted match for the tortured (and nummy ;P) Adrian. <i>Sex, Lies, and Vampires</i> is a slightly more serious entry into <b>The Dark Ones</b> series. Seems to me that Katie MacAlister's writing has gotten better through the years (as one would hope) and I hope to see more Dark Ones in the future! She's the only one that could have thought up Mummy followers. :P I love the zaniness and cheesiness, along with more serious moments within the romance. The only gripe I have is that I have no clue what Nell looks like. Besides her left side being either weak or slackened, the only other clue is that she's tall(ish). I do like to have a picture in my head as I read. Oh well, I'll live. :)

This is the second story I have read by Tamara Hartl, and further solidified my appreciation for her. If you have read her novel Dark Lord of Kismera, then you are familiar with her fantastic world and characters as well as her easy writing style. If you haven’t read Hartl before, I highly recommend her. Her Dark Lord series is a perfect mesh of fantasy and romance with a nice touch of heat. Her mythology is easy to understand and I didn’t feel left behind when she described anything fantastical. I also feel that you don’t have to read the first in the series to enjoy the second. The author lets you know everything pertinent to enjoy the story.

I recommend Hartl to anyone looking for a steamy fantasy with an amazing world.
