Jessica - Where the Book Ends (15 KP) rated Wonder Woman: Warbringer in Books
Jan 30, 2019
I read this book in 2 ways. I physically read some of it and I also listened to a bit of it on Overdrive from my local library. I really enjoyed both aspects of it. Wonder Woman as a character was very well written and her journey in this story was much more enjoyable than in the movie.
The plot of the story was unique and moved along quickly which kept me deeply enthralled in the story and left me not wanting to put the book down. The characters are we written (especially WW). The supporting characters are easy to relate to, but when all is said and done I must admit they were easy to forget.
Overall I give it 4 stars and look forward to the other DC books that are coming out in the coming months.

Hazel (2934 KP) rated Nothing to Hide (DC Constance Fairchild #2) in Books
Aug 26, 2019
"Nothing to Hide" can be read as a standalone but I would strongly recommend you read the first one otherwise I think you could potentially be lost as to why DC Fairchild is in the place she is, i.e. suspended and a pariah amongst a lot of her fellow officers and a magnet for the media and paparazzi. "No Time To Cry" also provides a lot of back story and history that this book can only touch upon otherwise it would be a tome!
DC Constance Fairchild, or Con for short, is a fantastic, strong, female character whose strength, bravery and steely determination is highlighted within the pages of this book. Con is not however the only fantastic character in this story ... it's full of them and all of them have a part to play, big and small, in what is a totally engrossing and enthralling read from start to finish.
At the end of "No Time To Cry", I said I couldn't wait for the next one in the series and as I have said, I wasn't disappointed ... so .... when's the next one out???
Many thanks to the Publisher and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest and unbiased review.

David McK (3587 KP) rated Flashpoint in Books
Jan 28, 2019
One of the most famous Flash stories - recently covered (briefly) in the DC TV series of the same name, during season 2.
In which Barry Allen wakes up at his desk to find the world he knows has changed drastically: there's no 'Man of Steel, nobody has ever heard of The Flash, and Wonder Woman and Aquaman are at war with each other.
All of which, over the course of the story, eventually comes to be because of a single change in the past, with that oen chagne leading to a domino effect and creating this world.
Reading this, it's also not hard to see why it is one of the more famous Flash stories and is (currently) rumoured to be the foundation for The Flash's upcoming Big Screen debut ...

MelanieTheresa (997 KP) rated The Kitchen (2019) in Movies
Dec 3, 2019 (Updated Dec 3, 2019)
I had zero idea this movie was based on a DC graphic novel; I was just intrigued by the premise of mob wives taking over. I enjoyed the story line. Margo Martindale is always great, no exception here. Melissa McCarthy felt weak, acting-wise and character-wise. Elizabeth Moss was EVERYTHING, and I don't normally care about her one way or the other. Her character's story arc was by far my favorite, her acting the most believable.
And then we come to Tiffany Haddish. She makes me cringe, and her voice makes me want to puncture my own eardrums. I just do not like her, and this movie did nothing to change my opinion. But if you can get past her, the movie was worth a watch.
