"Great record for me. Although I had a hard time comprehending that the guitar player in the band was 19 years old when he did it. I was never really a huge, huge fan of the way Phil Mogg sang, but I loved him as the singer for UFO. To me there was nothing heavier at that time: screaming vocals, shredding guitar and Pete Way was as dangerous a bass player as there was at that time. Also, UFO was my permission to be the guitar player I wanted to be. It was as if there were no age requirements. I remember to this day, when we went from Huntington Beach up to the mountains to go skiing, we always took UFO and AC/DC. Also, Michael Schenker was probably the reason that I picked up a Flying V, because I liked the way that it looked on him. He's a tremendously talented player who has had a very turbulent career. I'd love nothing more than to see him jump back in Scorpions and have them do some dates with Megadeth. Or maybe UFO would get back together and do Force It, Lights Out and Phenomenon live again. Those records set me on my course"

"This is where I came in with Queen — somehow I missed the first two albums. Our bass player always looks at me like I’ve got three heads when I say, “no, I never saw Seven Seas Of Rhye on Top of the Pops. I must have been out playing football that particular week. But when I first heard Killer Queen I thought, “wow, this is different. You could tell they were rock band, but you could also tell they were much more than a rock band. It had elements of vaudeville, which is fantastic to be able to bring on board, and when I heard the album there was even more things, like Bring Back That Leroy Brown, but at the same time you had things like Brighton Rock hammering away but with Freddie Mercury sing away in this weird falsetto that sounded like Sparks. It’s an amazing record. Now I’m Here is still one of the best rock songs ever written. It was very varied, very Queen in the sense of setting a standard that they then had to follow. It wasn’t like an AC/DC record where you get 10 songs that are very similar. This could have been four different bands on one record, with four different personalities making the music."

LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Man of Steel (2013) in Movies

Man of Steel (2013)

At the time of it's release, I was absolutely buzzing for Man of Steel. One of the most iconic comic book characters of all time, being overseen by the man who directed 300 and Watchmen (I've even got a huge soft spot for Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead).

This first entry into the DCEU was a pretty enjoyable spectacle for the most part, and as it stands, is my personal highpoint of the up and down franchise.

The first half carries a more serious tone, as we're given the most brooding Superman to date. I actually enjoyed watching Clark Kent go about his life, and don't find it as boring as a lot of people.

The second half is pretty much all action. I'll start off here by saying that the CGI and effects used in MoS are pretty solid - definitely better than any of the DC movies that have followed.
It's an absolute spectacle for sure, although the climatic battle does tread dangerously close to Transformers levels of dumb destruction.
It just about gets away with it though, and tops off a gorgeous looking movie nicely.

Not too bad at all, it's a damn shame the quality didn't stick. (Fingers crossed for Joker though!)

Man of Steel got it all right. Still can't believe this was not a massive hit with audiences and critics.
