Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Amethyst Eyes: The Legend Comes to Life in Books
Jan 12, 2018
The second book of [Amethyst Eyes] by [Debbie Brown] continues the story of Tommy as he comes to terms with who he is. The story picks up three years after the first ended. I liked how the events on Earth that were considered critical could truly be identified as the Japanese Tsunami. I do not know if there will be another books since this one came to a resolution but as we all know one resolution always leads to a new story.

[Rebirth] by[Debbie Brown] began with a quick pace that made it difficult for me to put down. The characters were authentic and you fell right in with their plight. The statement that was made about the youth being our hope could not have rung more true.
I would have liked to see more development and I am hoping she continues this story line. It had the potential to be wide read YA fiction given the current climate of the genre.
I have to try and find a paper version of this so I may add it to my classroom library.

I really enjoyed [Amethyst Eyes] by [Debbie Brown]. In the introduction it states it was written for reluctant readers, which is what I teach. I fully agree that young adults that don't like reading will enjoy the story of coming of age with a twist.
Imagine your world as you know it being turned upside down at fifteen years old. Your mom dies in an accident, you are seriously injured, finally your dad, who you haven't seen since you were little, comes to take you home with him. Here is the twist, his home is a space ship. Yes, your dad is an alien.
It is definitely not as cheesy as I made it seem. The relationship Tommy has with his dad is not that different from that of any teenager growing up and changing. The adventure of getting to know yourself is sometimes the biggest for a teenager.
