Picked this one up on a whim. Didn't really know what I was letting myself in for but damn, this was one gripping read. For a debut novel this really is well written, great characters and more twists than a twisty thing. There is a lot of jumping around time zones so if you don't like that sort of thing then go read something else. Personally that doesn't bother me and I found Blake's narrative extremely entertaining. I worked out the 0642 pretty quickly as it was fairly obvious but the twist after came as a surprise (and answered a question that I kept asking myself throughout the book). The ending is totally gripping, a real bloodbath of a finale, and I couldn't help but chuckle to myself in the epilogue. Overall an incredible debut from Blake and I will definitely be reading the follow up book at some point in the near future.

[Toychest] by [Lance Milham] is an excellent debut novel from a young author. The characters are the main part of the story and they keep the plot moving at a good pace. The way he shows that evil people exist everywhere and even good can become evil is subtle. The idea that everything as consequences is throughout this novel. [Milham] has a very creative mind and I look forward to reading more from him.

When a maniac starts killing honeymooners, Lt. Boxer of the SFPD looks for help outside the box for bringing the killer to justice. This series debut had a decent plot until the ending, which was just stupid. I did like the main characters, although I could have used fewer details on their love lives.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2273 KP) rated Killer Mousse (A Della Cooks Mystery #1) in Books

Della is thrilled with her new job as the host of a cooking show on the Better Living Network. But when the woman she is replacing dies during Della's live debut, Della finds herself in hot water. The plot was decent and the characters were interesting, but I absolutely hated the romantic sub-plot.

Better than most thrillers
As a debut book it is a confident stride into novels
Having a journalist AND a girl in a coma as protagonists was a brave move that paid off.
A whodunit that mostly avoids treading the same paths as its peers while not being formulaic - made a refreshing change and reignited my interest in this genre.

I've read it 12 times
My absolute favourite book of all time.
A beautifully written debut novel. Stunning prose help to move the story in such a smooth way.
The story is effortless
The characters perfectly developed.
Proof that true love will over come all obstacles, even death. Character development is whole hearted and true, with everyone becoming something so much more than they were.
Best book ever!!!
