The synopsis sounded better than the book actually was, it was a little disappointing. Stories about the main character, Weylyn, are told by the people around him. It's definitely a neat idea, but, I'm not sure it worked entirely. I may need to read it again. I did enjoy it overall, and for being a debut novel, it wasn't bad at all.

This is the debut novel for Mark Hill and, I think, a successful one and I want to thank the publisher, Little, Brown Book Group UK, and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review which can be found on my blog ... Reading Stuff 'n' Things.
KarenRC (6 KP) rated Haven (Rebecca Filmore Series, #1) in Books
Jul 23, 2018
This is one of those books that grabs you from the first few pages and you can't stop reading. The story was well written, using the different character perspectives to narrate the action. I am hoping that this is the start of a compelling series starring Becky and well done to Victoria for such a good job on her debut novel.

This was a really enjoyable saga and Mandanna is a skilled storyteller.
Despite the cultural setting of the book the characters were very real and easy to identify with and Mandanna enabled you to sympathise with each one even amongst their pain and unforgiveness.
Tiger Hills is a great debut novel and I look forward to reading more from Mandanna in the future.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Marmalade Martini in Books
Feb 20, 2018
An excellent debut novel. The story had a nice flow and the characters were very believable. I really enjoyed the way the story developed with some twists and turns just like in real life. Jamie is a little like all of us, or if you are one of those perfect people you have a friend like her. She deserves to have good things happen to her and you are overjoyed when it does. You also want to punch anyone who mistreats her. I hope to see a follow up novel soon.
The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated Becoming Bonnie in Books

Probably the most famous of criminal duos is Bonnie and Clyde. Their spree of murder and theft ended up with a shoot-out that ended their young lives in the spring of 1934. In her debut novel, Jenni Walsh attempts to paint a fictional portrait of the woman who made up half of this team, from the sketchy information available, and no small amount of innovative flights of fancy on Walsh's part. MoMoBookDiary (20 KP) rated Misled in Books
Oct 1, 2018
MoMo’s Book Diary enjoyed C.J. Spammer’s debut novel “Misled” and recommends this as a 5 star read.
I found this an emotional novel. Very gripping. I couldn’t put it down once I started – unfortunately I started reading just before going to bed and I was then up most of the night because even after I had finished the characters and the story stayed with me.
A fantastic book that takes the reader on a rollercoaster journey through the struggles of Sara who is affected by Bipolar Disorder in alternating chapters of now and then – then, being when it all went wrong.
I would like to thank CJ Spammer for the opportunity to read and review this novel.

At only 19, Chani is worried that if someone doesn't propose to her soon, she'll become an "old maid," despite her fears and unanswered questions about married life. However, in the world of Ultra-Orthodox Jews, that's how life is.
