Survive The Night
Run All Night- is really good film. The action, the suspense, the thrills, the drama and the drama.

The plot: Longtime hit man Jimmy Conlon (Liam Neeson), best friend of mob boss Shawn Maguire (Ed Harris), has seen better days. He's haunted both by the sins of his past and a police detective who's been breathing down his neck for 30 years, and the only comfort Jimmy has is whiskey. However, when his estranged son (Joel Kinnaman) becomes a mob target, Jimmy figures that the only way to atone for his past mistakes is to make sure that his son doesn't wind up at the wrong end of a gun.

I do recordmend watching this film.

Had potential
This started off OK, a sort of Slasher film with a twist with the killer forcing victims to choose who to kill or be attacked. With a detective element to it as well. Katheryn Winnick of Vikings stars as a journalism student tracking the killer along with her dad as the local sheriff in a small town.
Just a shame it didn't reach its potential, not a particularly scary film. Seems to be stuck between genres without choosing which direction to go in. The second half of the film unravels without much drama to a rather tame ending. OK if you want a short film to pass the time.

Quick but obvious read
DS Ian Peterson is investigating a brutal stabbing in a park that opens a chain of events resulting in further killings. The suspect is obvious and clearly isn't worried about being found out.

Ian is a good character with the usual home life issues of a detective, although probably not as tragic as some. There were parts where I felt the focus was a little too strong on his home life particularly when written from his wife's perspective.

I like the dynamic of colleagues and felt it was believable. The writing was good. The story was a little basic and obvious.
