By Meg Anne and Jessica Wayne

Love is the only light Skye Giovanni can find during the darkest moments of her life.

Kidnapped, tortured, and cut-off from everyone she loves, it won't be long before even that bright spark burns out.

Detective Lucas MacConnell is not used to losing.

A master at piecing together the clues others often miss, Lucas is backed into a corner when the Druid manages to trick him. Now he's unsure how to keep going when it feels like he's already lost.

The stakes are higher than ever before, and each moment that passes puts their enemy closer to meeting his goal.

Their lives are the only thing standing in his way.

I have loved this trilogy I’m fast becoming a fan of both these authors! We finally see this foursome get an happy ending! It was hard fought for and fantastic to read I think this is the first book Series I’ve read based around druids and gypsies and I really enjoyed it!

Very classy romantic drama-thriller. When a young Amish boy witnesses a brutal murder, it leads to detective John Book uncovering widespread corruption in his own department. He is forced to hide out amongst the Amish, and finds he is drawn to their way of life almost despite himself.

This is a classic movie, but also one of those films which looks deceptively simple and straightforward: there are no staggering plot twists, no big set pieces (except for the one where some people build a barn) - it's one of those very brave films with the confidence to take its time and let the characters and story grow and breathe. The contrast between the ugliness of the big city and the quiet consolations of the Amish lifestyle is carefully achieved; Harrison Ford seizes the chance to lead the movie and give a proper acting performance (this got him his Oscar nomination). A great film; didn't quite make me want to go and live on a farm, but a close thing.

"It’s brilliant. It’s almost like a detective story: you try to work out why this person hasn’t spoken. The logic of it is so strange, you know — you sort of go, “Where does it start?” It’s something in a sense that could have existed without those bookends, without that kind of prologue to it, but it adds a strangeness to it, in its awareness of its form. They’re not the main things I enjoy about it — I like it, but I mainly like those two actresses, and how lean it is: straight in, the first scene is, “Miss Vogler, stop speaking… ” Everything’s so condensed. It’s clearly someone who’s made so many great films already — just a remarkable series of films. And it’s odd, because it’s very rare that I like someone with no humor to them, and he has no humor. I mean, Smiles of a Summer Night is not a hoot, you know? It’s odd that something can be so great without humor; it’s strange. Most great directors have a bit of humor in their films. Kubrick’s hilarious; Malick’s really funny…"

This is my latest book club read. I read the blurb and on first thoughts, loved the idea of this book. It sounded exactly my cup of tea. Then after a few chapters, the writing style was bugging me, i wasnt sure if this book was for after all. I found it so hard to connect with the characters because of how distanced I felt due to the style of writing...
Then about a quarter of the way through something clicked and I could not put this book down. I absolutely loved it every opportunity I got I found myself reading it
I love the characters of Bridie and Ruby and the relationship that develops between them. Every character that is introduced seems to have some importance in the story. And the story itself with all its twists and turns is a masterpiece.
I definitely want to read more by Jess Kidd, shes one of the best authors I've read for a long time. #jesskidd #thingsinjars #victoriannovel #anatonomy #detective #bridiedevine
