The main leads in this novel are two detectives, Wolf and Baxter, and they are absolutely incredible. The story is told from multiple perspectives, showing the hard work of many, smaller characters mentioned throughout the book. Wolf and Baxter are very complex and messed up people, but their witty and sarcastic life stories were a real joy to read. The bond between Wolf and Baxter is truly special and reading about their interactions with each other and other characters provided so much insight into their true personalities. I really loved the way Daniel Cole developed and presented all the characters in this novel.

The narrative of this book was full of suspense and surprises. It is pretty fast-paced, and the characters are being killed off quite quickly.

Learning Lessons with Ricky Kidd
This book collects eleven short stories starring Ricky Kidd and the rest of the Accidental Detectives. While they don’t all feature mysteries to solve, they do include plenty of action and fun. Ricky has a bully or two to deal with. He and Mike take a dangerous canoe ride. And a new classmate’s sculpted replica of a hand leads to a crisis of faith.

Adding to the book, after each story author Sigmund Brouwer shares some thoughts on the theme of the story and the inspiration behind it. These are just as fun as the stories themselves and could almost work as a devotional if they included scriptures. The stories themselves are quick adventures with the characters we love, and fans will be very happy with them.

I have read all Ms Diamond's books and they are all phenomenal. This one as usual has good characters and great villains but what she does brilliantly is take you on a journey that emotionally challenges you on every level.
A woman is found in the water and trying to solve the mystery of why she was there and the intricacies of her life and who tried to he her take our two main detectives on a very awkward and heart wrenching journey. Something happens which is particularly shocking but the author handles it very well indeed with respect but also showing the emotional trauma involved.
I would highly recommend those who like police procedural to read this series. Start at the beginning with The Teacher, really, you'll thank me later!
