So, I saw the movie before I read this. After I read through the second chapter, I decided to evaluate it completely separate from the movie.
The nostalgia was high in this, it was a 80s/90s fest. I liked it, because that's my jam, but I can see why some people saw it as forced. The writing wasn't anything to write home about (pun unintended), and I know why Ernie changed some things around for his screenplay of the novel. Some of the scenes would have been really boring to watch.
My one issue with the differences between the book and movie... Seriously, you cast Simon Pegg, then don't use him as much as the book? Lame.
Anyway, I liked the book, and I'm strongly considering reading Armada now.

Going into this book I wasn't expecting much. I mean, how could a comedian write an intelligent non fiction book about romance? I know, I was that person that had a snap judgment on an author and I shouldn't have thought that.

This book was extremely interesting and the audiobook was HILARIOUS! I loved listening to Aziz Ansari read this book and describe the statistics that he gathered. The book was interesting and quite entertaining. He gathered a lot of information and was able to bring life into what could have been a dull psychology book.

Ultimately, if you're looking for an interesting and fun read, this is the book is for you. The statistics were never dull and it was fascinating to learn about other cultures and the differences between generations.

I listened to this audiobook. I'm not a huge fan of the narrator but honestly it wasn't as dry as most business/selling books.

The concepts of this book are interesting and I do like all of the methodology the author did to show how his studies were conducted. Honestly, this is a required reading for my job and I'm still not sure if I fully grasp the concepts. I tried reading just the field guide and it didn't give me all of the information that I craved.

It was truly interesting to see the differences between Situational, Problem, Implication, & Need-payoff questions and how they can help or in some cases hinder selling. I will definitely need to process this book & put the concepts into practice. Hopefully it helps me develop my selling skills.

Why do I love cheesy 70s and 80s sci-fi so much?
I think I watched this as a kid for the first time and was fascinated and spooked out all at the same time. Since I have been an adult, a purchased the VHS tapes, the original MG DVD release and will probably purchase the new Blu Ray editions some time soon (but haven't yet).

I am not a reader (wish I was), but this story of the first expeditions to Mars, what the humans find there and how they have to learn to set aside differences to peacefully coexist is still very enthralling.

Everything about it is cheese for sure, but I still very much enjoy the characters, stories and situations.

I love the world I enter reading this book. This is the second time I have read this book, and I can say I loved it just as much. The first time I read it I absolutely loved it, then watched the movie and hated it because it wasn’t as good as the book, typical for 11-13-year-old me. I later learned to LOVE the movie. Re-reading it allowed me to compare the two a little more clear-headed and I have to say that despite differences the tone is caught in the film. I love everything about this book, characters, setting, plot, magic… It is so much fun, and I get completely sucked it. This time I am planning on reading the remainder of this series.
