In this stand alone novel, Scott James is trying to return to the LAPD after being shot in the line of duty, losing his partner in the process. He's joined the K-9 unit and teamed up with Maggie, a dog who has also undergone trauma. Will the two help each other heal? And will Scott track down the men who shot him? This reminds me why I need to read more Crais. I loved the book, feeling for the characters and getting caught up in the story. I'm not a dog person either, so that tells you just how great the characters are.

Question! Does anyone have a love for animals? Not just your normal animals but like taboo animals?

I have 3 cats, 1 dog, 2 ducks, 1 chicken, 1 Nile moniter, and 5 snakes. Plus we breed rats to feed snakes and yes some are our pets.

We have gotten heck for years about the snakes, lizard, and rats. Lol

Whittaker is very good in this mash up of Japanese culture meets Italian mob movie, it gives the impression that it is deep and it can be as we see ghost dog steeped in the code of the Japanese samurai, however the performance doesn't match the script that appears threadbare at times...great performance mind you!

I have to say that I loved this book! I have raised and bred working dogs my entire life so it was interesting to read about some of the training and issues that Honeybun had. The conversation about the Carolina Dog breed was also fascinating. Malta sounds like a great woman that I would love to meet!
