"I've got a great friend, Todd Robinson, who runs a shop called Luna Music in Indianapolis, and we've been on lots of road trips together in America over the years. We both bond over music like this, stuff that has an American alt-psych-folk-rock feel. I find it a really appealing sound, and it's usually lifted by a great voice. Gold Leaves have that with Grant Olsen, who has such a beautiful voice. It's part beautiful, part-weary, part-determined, part-resigned. The music, too, is all a bit casual on the outside, a bit Lee Hazlewood, a bit Scott Walker, a bit melancholy, but it all comes together into something really special. We played this driving down the Pacific Coast Highway. It was perfect.

I'm a bit of a mess right now. The whole on again off again thing was driving me crazy but I understood in a way. Being a gay cop, I imagine, can be very hard. Its seen as a mans job and people expect you to be some sort of hard guy with a loving wife and kids at home... But no! Life and modern society are so much more advanced than they used to be and gay people should be able to work in any profession and not get judged or bullied for it.

That aside I was so into this series. I really need to know what's going to happen next with Jory and Sam so need to buy book three and four now

"When I was moving to California with one of my best friends, Austin, we packed up everything in his car and we were driving out. Everything was just stuffed. We had a little Kia Sephia. We stuffed everything in the car, including the CDs. We couldn’t find the CDs anywhere, we couldn’t find his CDs and mine were all packed away—we couldn’t get to them. The only CD we had in the CD player was By The Way. We had that whole CD on repeat. It reminds me of leaving the safety of my parents' home to move to California where I was convinced I was going to be gang-raped. I had some seriously rape-able buttcheeks. 10 years later, they’re slightly less rape-able"

"I came across this at a time when I was obsessed with Louis Malle and purchased the box set of films that he made between his features. Vive le Tour shows his passion as a camera operator and cycling fanatic. Malle really gets in the mix with these guys, driving alongside the riders and capturing the race at another time. You can see Eddy Merckx swing into a café for a beer, stuffing a can in his jersey on the way out. Nuns, priests, cats, dogs, and the rest of the population of France gather on the roadside and cheer the racers through the villages on this seemingly national holiday. The film is a poetic series of candid snapshots from one of the best eyes in cinema."
