"Greg Sage had a lot of great records right around this period but this one to me is the peak. It's extremely dark music and it's sort of hardcore but it's also undeniable pop songs. I remember driving around Austin with some of my hardcore friends from Temple and they were really into The Misfits, The Dead Kennedys. They weren't into my silly pop music, let me just put it that way. They were not Julian Cope fans. They put this record on they were like 'this is too gloomy. It's creeping me out.' It's a record that has classic song after classic song. At one point I covered 'No One Wants an Alien' just on my four track. I used to cover songs a lot just as an exercise because it was fun and to figure out how songs were put together. It was my process for figuring out how to become a recording artist. "

"It’s so good—so subtle, truthful, and simple. This movie allows you to just look at human beings as human beings for a second. Wong Kar-wai is a master, and I have an admiration for his ability to direct your attention to certain things but not in an obvious way. I got to see Asian people as real people who could be flawed and make choices that are selfish and don’t take into account social graces all the time. Being raised in a very Christian, traditional Korean household, you’re kind of just seeing the surface and what you’re supposed to be at all times. I remember growing up thinking all Korean people were church deacons, and then you see a Korean man driving a taxi and all of a sudden you’re like, what’s going on? This doesn’t make sense to me! Wong’s films are like traveling to Hong Kong without going to Hong Kong."

"It’s a toss up for me between this album and Exile On Main Street. They’re both great. But Sticky Fingers wins out. I recall going into Andy’s Record Shop in Lowestoft and seeing this in the bargain bin. I thought, ‘What the hell? It’s so cheap I can’t go wrong buying a copy’. And I loved what I heard. “It’s never easy to pick a favourite Rolling Stones song – how do you do that with so may to choose from? But Can’t You Hear Me Knocking from Sticky Fingers would be my choice. “There’s also another reason to go for this. It brings back memories of Frankie (Poullain, Darkness bassist) and me driving around in a Volkswagen van in Costa Rica, climbing up the side of a volcano. And we listened to this all the time. It was perfect for that trip. So, if you are planning to go climbing up a volcano, then this is the album to take with you"
