"The sound of the band hit me first – when they really kick in on Gloria – then I started reading her lyrics more and got into the whole package. And then it was everything: her delivery, her no-bullshit attitude, the androgynous thing. They were important to me early on because it was kind of our set-up: drums, bass, guitar, keyboard. In that respect, I always thought of Supergrass as being modelled on The Patti Smith Group, though I don’t know if the other boys would agree."

Old school southern blues rock
As far as bluesy southern metal albums go, this is a corker.

Sweet Mountain River is my favourite song on he album as it is such a dirty blues song. I love it.

It’s a great album for driving to and also for part of your summer soundtrack.

The vocals are exceptional and the tightness of the keys, guitars and drums make it a well produced album.

If you like bluesy metal bands like Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, etc. then you will love these guys.

"I find Air to be more of a love band than a sex band. Romantic, not seductive… for before it gets dirty. Sonically it's very warm sounding, very inviting. The drums have this 70s muffled drum tone, nothing is brash or abrasive, all the songs roll, they come in waves. I liked Air before this, I came across them through the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, which had the song Playground Love, another saxophone one that I love. But the Talkie Walkie record is another of those where I like the whole thing, no skipping."

Good Format
I really think that Royal Blood did well to set their tone through this album. Reminding me of a more brooding Slaves, their riffs and drums really pull it out of the bag on some of the tracks. However, on a full hearing of the album, all of the songs sound slightly similar. This not only shows that they have mastered their style, but it also shows that they are somewhat stuck in their ways - and for a first album, I don't really think that that should be the case.
