These are the films that I watched between last night and early this morning. 1. Cocktail Blockers- Very funny made me laugh like mad (it's been a while) if I had to rate it it would be a 9/10. Brilliant a must watch.
2. Ready Player One- love the soundtrack to this thought between that and the storyline was well put together. It is a great Sci-fi and the graphics and special fx are worth it. My hopes this will go far. 8/10
3. Rampage- Another great film by Dwayne Johnson I liked the team man ship between Dwayne and George the Gorilla again the sfx was pretty good. And sorry yet again worth the watch. 8/10

When the chips are down...
2004 saw the official beginning of one Dwayne Johnsons transition from the squared circle to the bright lights of Hollywood.

Starring as the protagonist in one of his first major leading roles, Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson put on a pretty steady and hard hitting performance as Chris Vaughn, a former member US Army Special Forces returning hometown after eight years.
Vaughn determined not to crumble under pressure from a local crime boss, battling his henchmen and corrupt officers who have all but taken over the town,

Slick, hard hitting action backed up by a solid story and performance.

No over the top special effects make this a nice Nod to past, lesser known action movies.

This is very much a film that you should have appropriate expectations for. It's a Dwayne Johnson movie about a world changing disaster. If you watch it with that expectation, good job! You're going to have a fine time. If you watch it expecting it to be a cinematic masterpiece, don't waste your time just so you can complain later. Allow yourself to enjoy the movie for exactly what it claims it is. Nothing more.

Wonder Woman.

Deadpool.

Black Adam.

All in the same movie; a wannabe twisty-turny crime thriller in which a framed FBI agent (played by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson) has to team up with his former notorious art thief target (Ryan Reynolds) to clear his name and to catch the new '#1 art thief in the world' thief aka The Bishop (Gal Gadot).

I found this to be reminiscent of the Nic Cage starring 'National Treasure' series, with the main characters all globe-trotting around the world in pursuit of the McGuffin, and with the interplay between Johnson and Reynolds raising a few laughs/raised eyebrows along the way.

In short: good, but not brilliant.

Big screen remake of an old 60s TV series, that was actually better than I was expecting!

Starring Steve Carrell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Terence Stamsp (with support from the likes of Terry Crews, and a cameo from Bill Murray), this was more deadpan than I (vaguely) remember (I wasn't around in the 60s, and only caught a few episodes on repeat), although I did pick up on a few of the call backs in the movie to said series.

Dwayne Johnson is brilliant at comedy. He may look big and scary on the outside but inside he's a nerd! And Jack Black is so funny as the ultimate girly girl in a man's body. (0 more)

A really good, modern version of Jumanji. I loved how the game updates inself to fit in the changing times.
It is funny and I love how the characters are all out of their comfort zones.
A movie for all the family

Fast and Furious Johnson/Statham Style
Fast And Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw is a 2019 action movie directed by David Leitch and written by Chris Morgan and Drew Pearce from a story by Morgan. It was produced by Seven Bucks Productions and Chris Morgan Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film also had Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Morgan and Hiram Garcia as producers. The movie stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Ryan Reynolds.

When a team of MI6 agents try to retrieve a virus called "Snowflake", which could kill millions, from terrorist organization Eteon; Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), a cybernetically enhanced member of Eteon, arrives killing all the agents except Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby). She is able to inject herself with the virus and escape but Brixton forces her to go on the run by framing her as a traitor who killed her team and stole "Snowflake". Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) are both recruited by the CIA, to work together to track it down and recover it.

This movie definitely fit in with the Fast and Furious series and was what you expected from a spin-off of the main franchise. That being said, it also didn't feel like a good fit in a lot of ways. Dwayne Johnson's character Hobbs felt diminished in a way because of how they tried to humanize him and make him more relatable by introducing family like his daughter. Also Deckard Shaw, Statham's character was given the same treatment by introducing family characters as well. Since the Fast and Furious franchise is all about family, I guess this was to be expected but it came off as contrived and "trope-ish". Vanessa Kirby did an awesome job as kick ass Hattie Shaw and delivered a strong performance as did Idris Elba although his character felt like a stereo-typed villain. The stunts and action sequences of course were crazy as hell but if you like the Fast and Furious movies than you will like this film. For me though, I'm with most fans and feel that the team up with Shaw is a stab in the back to Han since he was killed by Shaw in the franchise. But I guess the movie makers didn't really care or maybe they'll do something else about it later and he'll wind up being alive. All in all, it's a decent movie but just didn't do it for me, even with the great action, the funny dialogue/banter between Statham and Johnson and solid performances from some of the actors. I give this movie a 6/10.
