"Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy make me laugh out loud. Eddie Murphy makes me laugh generally speaking, Steve Martin makes me laugh, I love him with all my heart, and the combination was just beautiful. At the end when Eddie Murphy begins to believe the things that have been weirdly happening to him are in fact true, and that he might save the universe, it always makes me laugh out loud. I love the fact that he comes in and says to Steve Martin at one point “Guess who I had intercourse with last night?” which always makes me smile."

Obviously, pork bellies
Eye opening comedy classic
Ackroyd and Murphy work so well together in this classic film of the rich and poor swapping places, and all for a one dollar bet. Daft comedy at its best

Well, that hasn't aged very well.

Mid 80s Eddie Murphy vehicle, with Eddie playing the part of an investigator who specialises in finding lost children and who is hired to find the mystical 'Golden Child', who has been kidnapped from a remote Tibetan monastery and who is supposed to save mankind from themselves.

What follows is a strange blend of (mild) horror, oriental mysticism and crime movie as Murphy is in the case.

Definitely an 80s movie in soundtrack, attitude and fashion.

"I was just a monumental fan of both Tony Scott as a director and Eddie Murphy. I suppose you can probably tell now — and especially by if you watch Hardcore Henry, the performance styles of Robin Williams and Eddie Murphy, and Jim Carrey, that type of performance — Peter Sellers, which was obviously a bit before my time — but as I grew up going back and watching that, I love those kinds of actors. It’s interesting all the sequels [I have] in here too [laughing]."

Murphy back to his best
Based on the true story of comedy and rap pioneer rudy ray moore, this is a delightful film that should launch eddie murphy back into the big time.

Murphy plays Moore,an entertainer desperately seeking that one break through moment that will lead to him becoming famous. That break eventually comes to him in the form of his outlandish and adult only records and stand up routine to the making and eventually success of his dolemite movie.

Murphy is at his very best here, delivering the hilarity and warmth of moore but also letting his other co-stars shine around him as well.A special mention has to go to wesley snipes as well who is hilarious as the co star and director of the dolemite movie who is always drunk off his ass and prone to the occasional temper tantrum.

Classic Eddie Murphy
An old school classic comedy that showcases a great comedic actor at his very best. This was Eddie Murphy is at his most funniest (and serious in parts) role ever (imo anyway)

Murphy plays an african prince who wants to find a woman who will love him for himself not because he is royalty so he decides to head over to America to find said bride. He poses as a poor african student and when he eventually does find that special woman he goes all out to win her over while trying to keep his identity a secret.

A sequel is due to this next year (32 years after the original!!) and I just hope they dont ruin the legacy of the original with a painfully unfunny film.
