Great, ethereal sound, but less edgy
I won the Smashbomb giveaway for this album, and ended up giving it to my son for his 18th birthday... however, despite not being a huge fan of Billie Eilish, I still really enjoy it!

Billie's ethereal vocals are always outstanding, and this latest offering almost has an "older" feel to it in places. It's more upbeat in general, but has some old-timey sounds to certain songs (the title track, "Happier Than Ever" in particular, until about half way through).

One thing I did notice, is the songs seem less edgy (in their sound, not the lyrics)... so there aren't any tracks which are really comparable to earlier songs like Bad Guy, or You Should See Me In A Crown etc.

The inlay cover and artwork is all very nice, and beautifully presented in a gatefold-style cardboard case.

All-in-all though, it's a nice evolution of Billie's music, and I'm interested to see how she progresses over time.

Much of the album’s magic boils down to one element: Lipa’s voice. It could make the thickest synths seem tame in comparison and carries a 20-a-day raspiness capable of making heartfelt ballads sound edgy.

Perry’s heartfelt ballads feel tacked on in the face of all this weirdness. Perhaps it’s time to let that freak flag fully fly free.

This was an amazing debut by Char Dafoe! It is a raw and edgy story with a pretty badass main charcter. The plot mores along nicely and any flaws will be worked out with experince. Everyone needs to give this new face in the lesbian fiction scene a read. Trust me you will love Rae!

"When I set foot in Piccadilly Records in Oldham Street [Manchester], I know I’m coming out 40 quid lighter. I dropped in to see those guys the other day. Thee Oh Sees are new to me. It’s edgy, full-on guitar; garage punk. But it’s got a psychedelic edge, which makes it a bit proggy."
