Whether you're getting ready to march or you're just interested in learning more, these books are a great way to inspire and educate yourself about how protests can make a difference.

Protests have long been an integral part of our global history, from the iconic March on Washington to Arab Spring, and there has been plenty of great literature surrounding protests.

Rolling Stone's 149th greatest album of all time
A good 70s rock album, with the Latino elements a refreshing change from the norm. I have fond memories of this album, as when Jellybean released version in 1987 my Dad frequently felt he had to educate us by dusting off his vinyl to play the Santana version. We used to pretend it was dreadful and we loved the Jellybean version, even though it is clearly dreadful.

You're a Wizard Harry!
For those of you who don't know me very well, I love Harry Potter. I am obsessed. I have read the books a thousand times, know all the lines from the movies and listen to the music to calm me down.

You could say I am a fan. Just a little bit.

So when my super duper awesome best friend brought me the newest editions of the Harry Potter series, it just gave me an excuse to read them all again. Oh, and to educate you all on the greatness of Harry Potter.

Michel Gondry recommended Kes (1969) in Movies (curated)

Kes (1969)
Kes (1969)
1969 | Drama

"I would say Kes by Ken Loach. It’s a story about a 12-year-old kid in the middle of England in a very poor area. He finds a kestrel – it’s like a small eagle – and tries to tame it. He goes to the library and steals a book about how to tame and educate a kestrel. And there is this scene – he’s always dismissed in class; he has nothing to say – and one time the teacher asks each pupil to tell a personal story. Every pupil has something really flat to say, and suddenly he stands up and he tells his story about his kestrel, and he becomes animated and he’s completely inspired, to the point that his teacher comes to see his bird."

Can anybody truly say,
Had you never come our way,
Alice, where we'd be today?

If you love Alice and Wonderland then this is the book for you. Some poems you will know, such as the iconic 'The Walrus and the Carpenter' but there are also some new pieces, inspired by the classic tale, waiting to be discovered.

This collections comprises of 53 poems which was much larger than I was expecting. Obviously, OBVIOUSLY a lot of these are penned by Lewis Carroll: it would be sacrilegious otherwise. However, I was impressed by the inclusion of modern poets in order to appeal to the younger reader: even Facebook gets a mention!

The illustrations by Sir John Tenniel are perfect and I loved the italic additions throughout the book which educate the reader as to the inspiration behind the verses.

An anthology of fantasy; this collection is perfect for our busy lives when we need a quick five minutes of escapism.
