That ending...wait until the last chapter
I spent about 90% of the time umming and ah-ing about whether to finish this book or not. Most of the time I felt irritated bordering on bored, or brushing certain elements of it as downright ridiculous. So here's how you should listen to it. It is not a psychological thriller in the conventional sense, parts of it requires suspending all disbelief and just accepting for what it is.
But wait until the last chapter.
And your head will spin 180 degrees to make you realise the past 290 pages was all a fabrication of some sort.
Not a perfect book, could have been a lot shorter, but a very good climax.

How many more days before things change?
This book is incredibly valuable. Whilst focusing on the lives of ten young individuals whose lives were tragically cut short Younge also focuses on the history of gun violence in those communities as well as research on this dilemma. Together, these elements create a compelling novel which open the eyes of the reader to the injustices that occur due to gun violence, whilst also ensuring that common assumptions and misconceptions are brought into the limelight. Due to the nature of this novel it is my belief that it should be read a chapter at a time to allow for contemplation and reflection on the disastrous events contained within its pages.

Suswatibasu (1703 KP) rated The Woman in the Window in Books

Interesting but familiar
While there were familiar elements to this psychological thriller with the unreliable narrator and presence of male violence, there were some good twists to make it equally listenable.
Following the story of psychologist Dr Anna Fox, it shows how agoraphobia has taken over her life, not before she witnesses something horrific in pure Hitchcock fashion. Her new neighbours, the Russells, appear to be hiding a secret which she catches while spying with her camera from across the window.
With that said, there are some classic thrillers built into the book such as Vertigo, Rear Window, and Wait Until Dark. And the main character happens to be a fan of these films as well. Good, but nothing completely new.

Effervescent Hitchcock pastiche. Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant spar and fall in love while attempting to discover the whereabouts of a stolen fortune; James Coburn and George Kennedy are amongst the killers also taking an interest in the cash.
Film's main plus points are its ingeniously convoluted script, practically guaranteed to keep the viewer guessing, and sparkling dialogue, which Grant and Hepburn put across every bit as well as you would expect. Film also has a touch of grit in the thriller elements, as well. A highly polished piece of escapist entertainment; classy in every department. Almost certainly showing on a video-sharing website near you (Universal mucked up the copyright notice and the film has been in the public domain ever since it was first released).

Warning: This is an outright comedy
Before I read any reviews on this film, I thought it was a thriller, and the trailer sold it as a sort of Gone-Girl-Girl-on-the-Train-esque film. Then I read one review, which warned that it was comedy, and the comedic elements outweighed everything else.
Anna Kendrick's character is slightly insufferable for me in the beginning, the 'mommy vlogger', but she was a perfect contract to Blake Lively's character. Henry Golding was great, and I didn't mind looking at him for nearly 2 hours.
The end was bananas, and not in a particularly good way, because it was messy. On the bright side, this is the first Paul Feig movie I'll be able to watch again.

AmyBee (4 KP) rated The Satanic Verses in Books
Nov 23, 2018
The best known novel that people have never read.
Contains spoilers, click to show
This is the number one work of literature (except from the Christian Bible) that people have heard of but never read. This is due to the controversy it caused when it was published, which resulted in the author receiving death threats (or a fatwa) by the Muslim community for depicting the prophet Muhammad as a paedophile.
Full of magic realism and fantasy elements, The Satanic Verses is a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions. An absolute must read for the secular and religious communities because it makes one think deeply about religious matters.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Star Wars Omnibus: X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Vol. 3 in Books
Jan 30, 2019
The third and final of the X-Wing omnibus editions, which contains the following 5 stories:
In the Empire's Service
The Making of Baron Fel
Family Ties
Masquerade
Mandatory Retirement
Well, when I say stories it's really one story arc told over all 5, with most of that arc concerning Baron Soontir Fel who (according to one panel) Vader had his TIE prototype made in order to avoid being beaten in sims by Fel. Set before the novels, the arc also takes in Ysanne Isard's - the main villain in the X-Wing novels - rise to power, but also leaves some plot elements hanging.
This, I felt, was the best of the three omnibuses: pity it was just in time for the series to end.

Halloween II is a better film
Contains spoilers, click to show
I like rob zombie's : Halloween II, i think its better than Rob Zombie's : Halloween.
Halloween II- focus on the charcters truma after the frist film, how its hard for them to get over micheal myers. Laurie learns that shes realated to micheal though Loomis book, intstead in person. The truma, the psycological elements are good.
Halloween II- makes the mistake of grown up micheal talking. In the directors cut michael tells sam loomis to die. Its very odd, ruins the charcter and breaks the lore of micheal not talked. Micheal is a non talking charcter with him saying die ruins everything about him.
Halloween II- is barely better, but again its not a great movie.
