We get a recap of the previous movie, then when the movie starts properly we see a young woman who lives alone. This woman has alarms set for different times of the day, keeps her house locked up like a prison and appears to be scared of everything. It eventually turns out it was her who the teens in the previous movie had called for help, and they take a possessed Sam to her house in the hope that she would help. Initially she refuses, but then tells them a story about her time at camp when her sister died.
We get a flashback to 1978 where a young girl called Ziggy was being accused of being a witch and constantly bullied by a group of girls because of it. She isn't a witch but it isn't long before the first attack and ziggys sister Cindy realises something strange is going on and goes searching for answers.
Just like the first it was very teen Slasher, but I enjoyed this one more than the first one. There was more murders and more gore with a shocking twist at the end. It has the feel of the Friday the 13th movies, though I did find the scenes inside the cave difficult to watch, not because of the content but because it was so dark visually.
I find the movie let's you start to like certain characters and then when they're taken away you feel all the emotions because you get attached to them, especially the final kills, which was a surprisingly powerful moment, you tend not to get that in Slasher movies so I thought that was a nice touch.

I'm not crazy. I haven't been diagnosed with being mentally insane. I don't hear voices inside my head and I don't hallucinate. At least, I don't think so. After reading Verum, I don't know what to think anymore. Is this real? Am I real? What are we? Courtney Cole has me spiraling in a deep pit of unending madness and I don't think I can claw my way out. When Nocte was finished, I was curious to find out what Dare's secret was, but I felt stable - finally. Then I read Verum. I felt like I was becoming insane, as if the insanity of the Savage's home was transmitting from the pages and straight into my brain. I couldn't keep up and just when I thought I was, everything would crumble and I'd have to rebuild. From the beginning, things were shaky and weird, but as the book progressed, I literally felt my sanity slipping. Calla walked me through a roller coaster of emotions that ended up with one same feeling: crazy. I felt psychotic. Literally. Mystery after mystery, lie after lie, revelation after revelation. I didn't know what was real and what was a figment of Calla's imagination. I still don't know if I should believe any of what I just read. Courtney has made me question my existence. I'm a little afraid to read Initium and then Lux. No, scratch that, I'm terrified. The worst part? As frustrated as I am at not knowing the full story or being able to understand the full picture, I absolutely love it. Guess that makes me certifiable. I'm insane.

I'm going to be brutally honest. Throughout the first several chapters of this book, I was only mildly interested. Parker is so negative and closed off, I almost quit reading - I've had experience with that before and reading her thoughts were just too much for me. But I stuck with it, even if hearing about Everett's problem almost made me bow out. I felt like things finally picked up around the time both Everett and Parker left for their trip. Considering how well they get along, all I could do was imagine how entertaining things would be; I was not disappointed! It's crazy, because even though I enjoyed the story and became marginally more interested when they traveled together, I can only describe my interest as casual, at best. A lot of that, I do believe, had to do with how I assumed the book would end. I've gotten used to seeing heartache from chapters away, so perhaps I was trying to cushion the blow. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Now, I didn't ugly cry. But I did shed some tears and felt the emotions deep within my bones. I yearned right along with Parker. Wished and hoped, even though I kept telling myself it was probably futile. Reading the Divergent series, the Bright Side, and Me Before You has hardened my heart a bit. I don't regret the tears that spilled while reading Ten Below Zero. It made my heart hurt and burst at the same time. I'm equally ecstatic that Whitney releases bonus scenes every few months - I look forward to signing up and reading more, especially from Everett's point of view.

Oh my goodness ... you have got to read this book!!!
Harrowing, hopeful, heart wrenching, gripping, thrilling and full of tension, this is one of those books that you won't forget in a hurry. It's absolutely gripping from the very first paragraphs and takes you through all manner of emotions from anger, disgust and hatred to love, sympathy and hopefulness. Although a very difficult subject-matter, it is dealt with carefully and without sensationalism; it felt authentic and believable and, unfortunately, is only too real.
You quickly become invested in the plight of Maggie and her son, Max; the strength of her human spirit and the will she has to keep her son safe whatever the cost oozes from the pages. It doesn't stop there though, oh no, her family are as big a part in this book as Maggie and Max and they embark on their own roller coaster ride in which you are a but a passenger.
Written from different perspectives and covering different timelines, you might think that this would be confusing ... it is anything but. With short chapters, great pace and easy writing, this book is a gem of a read and, cliché I know, hard to put down. I couldn't read it fast enough and thank goodness I was coming towards the end on a Saturday evening so it didn't matter if I slept in the next day!
This is most definitely a 5 star read for me and highly recommended.
