Samantha Holtsclaw (25 KP) rated Excerpts from the Bathroom Floor: Heartbreak & Healing in Books
Jun 29, 2018
I thought the poetry was very poignant and thought-provoking. It invoked a lot of emotions in me. I could tell that the writer was definitely speaking from her heart. The themes were a bit heavy at times though, so if fluffy poetry is what you're looking for, this is not for you.

This book is incredibly hard to read to those who have a sincere compassion towards those struggling with racism. However it brings a harsh trueness to the history of racism and how many were mistreated. It also give a honest portrayal of the emotions felt during the time of everyone involved.

AT (1676 KP) rated The Devil is a Part-Timer, Vol. 3 in Books
Aug 12, 2019 (Updated Aug 12, 2019)
Volume 3 of The Devil is a Part-Timer focuses on a new neighbor that has moved in next door. It also deals with the emotions that the girls each feel when they find out. Overall, it was a bit of a boring volume, since the story didn't move forward very much.

Nice Idea and location setting, but ultimately another film that plays on the idea of control in a prison setting. This time with experimental drugs to control emotions and behaviour on offenders who volunteer to have a little more freedom than your usual prison.
Good cast but slowly descends to a predictable outcome.

This novel was amazing. It made me really think about social issues. I loved the emotions that played over the pages, tempting the reader into wanting more. I had to read this for a class, but I am very glad that the professor assigned it. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Great novel.
